Hearing that, the way Rory looked at George changed again. “What did you just say? Are you just like what the rumors said?”
George paused for a moment before saying, “I was just joking. Those were just unfounded claims that people spread around; I’m actually very decent. I offered to buy you a meal because I wanted to make it up for scaring you just now.”
Rory didn’t want to believe him and bit her lower lips stubbornly.
“If I were lying, I swear to God that I’d drop dead in the next hour. Is that enough for you to believe me?”
Rory glanced at him and narrowed her eyes in confusion. “Forget it. You don’t have to say something so harsh. And you don’t have to buy me a fancy meal.”
Just at this moment, the elevator door opened, and Rory walked out immediately. Upon seeing that, George followed her. “If you don’t agree to me buying you a meal, this means that you haven’t forgiven me and think that my apology isn’t sincere enough.”
