Chapter 6 Fighting is a Man’s Thing

  • Xia Micheng had opened her eyes from where she lay on the bed.
  • Mr. Wang stiffened. Didn’t Li Qianhui say that she had been drugged? Wasn’t it supposed to last for two hours? How could she be awake now?
  • “My little pretty girl, how… how are you awake?”
  • Xia Micheng’s clear and sharp eyes belied a sly and mischievous smile. “How can I watch the show if I’m asleep?”
  • “You…”
  • Xia Micheng’s hand whipped out. Mr. Wang could smell an odd sweet scent, and then his body weakened before he slumped onto the carpet.
  • Now that Mr. Wang’s limbs had been tied up, he couldn’t move a muscle. All he could do was stare in fright at the grinning Xia Micheng. “My… my pretty thing, what are you thinking? Why don’t you let me go? We can have some proper fun together.”
  • Xia Micheng raised a shaped brow; a harmless and naive look appeared on her face. “Mr. Wang, look. What’s this?”
  • Mr. Wang took a closer glance; two bones with meat still on them had appeared in Xia Micheng’s hand. “W-Why do you have bones with you?”
  • “My my, Mr. Wang. Didn’t Li Qianhui tell you that the Xia Family has a wolfhound? It’s a rather ferocious one too, and it absolutely loves bones.”
  • Mr. Wang had always been a lecher, and he had been salivating over Xia Micheng for quite a while now. She was simply a country bumpkin from the boonies who married a half-dead man, so how could he not want to toy around with her?
  • But now, Mr. Wang’s scalp crawled when he peered at her. He couldn’t stop himself from quivering. “W-What are you going to do?”
  • Xia Micheng’s little hand moved downward, and then she shoved the two bones into Mr. Wang’s trousers. “Mr. Wang, the game’s started. You should be careful when that wolfhound comes in later. Make sure it doesn’t end up biting you somewhere unwanted, or chomp off your manhood.”
  • “No! Pretty… Missy, I was wrong. Please, let me go… This is too vicious of you. This isn’t a joke; I can end up dying…” Mr. Wang was so terrified that he was sweating buckets. Had he been able to, he would have already kneeled right in front of Xia Micheng.
  • Right then, Xia Micheng walked toward the door and opened it. Having detected the aroma of the bones, the wolfhound immediately bounded in.
  • “Ah!”
  • Mr. Wang screamed again and again.
  • ……
  • Li Qianhui waited downstairs for good news from Mr. Wang. Suddenly, the door to the bedroom upstairs flew open. Mr. Wang scuttled downstairs with his pants in his hand, looking very much pathetic and disheveled.
  • Li Qianhui was startled. “Mr. Wang, what happened to you?”
  • Mr. Wang was sobbing from the sheer fright and terror he felt. He brought one of the bones down on Li Qianhui’s head in a brutal strike. “Li Qianhui, it’s all your fault. You won’t hear the end of this!” he bit out.
  • Then, he scrambled out in fury and terror.
  • What is going on?
  • Li Qianhui quickly ran upstairs and entered the room.
  • Xia Micheng was sitting on a chair, sipping leisurely away at her tea. She raised her head, her shining eyes landing on Li Qianhui’s shocked face. “Oh, you’ve finally come, Auntie?”
  • Xia Micheng had been waiting for her all this time.
  • Li Qianhui was taken aback. She knew that her plans had fallen through, but that was impossible; Xia Micheng had indeed eaten that bowl of bird’s nest soup in front of her.
  • Where did things go wrong?
  • “Xia Micheng, you knew that the soup had been tampered with. You just played along, didn’t you?” Li Qianhui asked.
  • Xia Micheng’s lips curled up into a cold smile. “I just wanted to see how well-formed your plan is. Just as expected, you didn’t disappoint me.”
  • Li Qianhui snarled. She didn’t care about putting up any more pretenses as her eyes glinted venomously. “Mr. Wang left in a fury just now. I’m going to capture you and send him straight to his bed as my apology to him! Servants!”
  • “Yes, Mrs. Xia.”
  • About half a dozen guards dressed in black dashed in, all of them burly and sturdy in their builds.
  • “Xia Micheng, I managed to hire these bodyguards with the promise of a good salary. Do you think you stand a chance against them?”
  • Xia Micheng’s clear, angled eyes instantly turned chilly. She was already here anyway, so why would she be afraid?
  • “Go! Restrain her!”
  • At Li Qianhui’s order, one of the guards darted over to Xia Micheng, a hand stretched out to grab her.
  • Xia Micheng discreetly moved her hand to her waist.
  • But a large hand with prominent knuckles had already struck right out to grab the bodyguard’s arm. With just a little strength, the hand bent the guard’s arm.
  • Snap! The guard’s arm was now broken.
  • The guard was then thrown backward by a powerful force. He crashed into his fellow guards, making everyone crumple to the floor.
  • Xia Micheng quickly looked up. A man with a tall, majestic figure entered her sight—Lu Yuzhen had arrived.
  • “Why are you here?” Xia Micheng was bewildered.
  • Lu Yuzhen didn’t display any emotion, but his voice was still low and magnetic. “Looks like I missed an interesting show.”
  • Li Qianhui hadn’t imagined that someone would barge into the Xia residence. She scrutinized the man by Xia Micheng’s side, sizing him up. Dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, the man was tall and chiseled, his looks handsome beyond the realm of normality. His movements earlier had also been swift and brutal. The disinterested air and chilliness that he exuded could not be hidden.
  • As the lady of the Xia Family, Li Qianhui was rather well-acquainted with Haicheng City’s upper crust, but she had never seen this man before.
  • Xia Erxiang had mentioned that Xia Micheng had taken in a boy toy earlier. Could he be the one?
  • “Xia Micheng, is this the boy toy you’re seeing on the side?”
  • Boy toy?
  • Lu Yuzhen’s sharp brows knitted together at the sound of that word, as if he was disgruntled. He glanced at Xia Micheng. “Did you call me a boy toy in front of her?”
  • Xia Micheng straightened up and wrung her hands. “No, I didn’t say anything.”
  • However, Li Qianhui couldn’t wait anymore. “What are you all standing around for? Why can’t you even handle some boy toy on the side? Hurry up and get him.”
  • Some of the guards had wanted to charge toward him, but then Lu Yuzhen gently blinked and scanned them with a condescending gaze. “You guys? Going against me?”
  • The guards felt their blood freeze, and then they made a hasty retreat.
  • Lu Yuzhen looked at Xia Micheng. “Coming for dinner? Let’s go?”
  • “Oh, okay.”
  • Xia Micheng hurriedly followed behind Lu Yuzhen and left.
  • Li Qianhui’s body shook from her anger. Never in her life had she seen such an obnoxious and audacious boy toy before. He was relying on a woman for his meals and livelihood, and yet that demeanor and that aura was as if he thought of himself as some powerful bigwig. He even just came and went from her house as he wished.
  • This truly was a stupefying incident.
  • All the guards that she had hired had now escaped. All Li Qianhui could do was helplessly watch them run away.
  • Before she left, Xia Micheng whispered into Li Qianhui’s ear. “I will remember today.”
  • ……
  • Xia Micheng peered at the man next to her as they sat in his luxury car. His expression was focused, his movements elegant and poised. She couldn’t find any sign that he had just been in a fight.
  • Right then, Lu Yuzhen turned to look at her. “What would you have done if I hadn’t gone over?”
  • Xia Micheng smiled. “Fight, of course. I can fight too. I can deal with them even if you didn’t burst in.”
  • Lu Yuzhen recalled her background. She was bullied and ostracized by all the children in the village when she was abandoned at nine. They had all called her a stray orphan.
  • She had probably learned to fight because of that. Moreover, she had her medical skills as well. Since she was able to calmly dispose of the scarred man on the train, those guards wouldn’t have been a problem for her.
  • “Girls shouldn’t fight. Fighting is a man’s thing.”
  • “I don’t like to rely on others. Still, Mr. Lu, thank you for earlier.”
  • At the sight of her sincerely grateful eyes, Lu Yuzhen raised an eyebrow. “You’re just thanking me like this?”
  • Xia Micheng froze. “Then, how should I thank you?”
  • Lu Yuzhen’s gaze moved from her shimmering eyes to the red lips hidden behind her veil. “Don’t you know the way that women should use to thank men?”
