Chapter 92 Bail Application

  • Out of respect, the hospital Manager called Mr Johnson to let him know that his wife was discharged. He thanked the hospital Manager and rushed to the hospital to fetch his wife. She stopped throwing tantrums; she took all her medication on time and stopped being rude to nurses. Her broken ribs were healed; she was told to come back to the hospital after a month to take off the cast on her arm. She was happy to see her husband, she was grinning from ear to ear. She was scared that her husband would abandon her. Her heart was bitter because her beloved son, James, didn’t visit her in hospital. Her husband took her back home. He told her that tomorrow was Serene’s bail application. She was overjoyed to hear that Serene would be coming back home. “Hubby, why don’t we ask James to reconcile with Serene and forget about Victoria. I don’t see Victoria divorcing Mark because he is the son of Mr Anthony.” Her husband looked at her and sneered, “When Victoria met Mark she didn’t know he was Timothy’s son. Are you saying that Victoria is a gold digger? The Lewis Group is doing well; she doesn’t need Mark’s money. I have seen them. They really love each other.” His wife stopped speaking about Victoria; she knew how her husband loved Victoria. “I’m sorry Hubby, I didn’t mean anything about that, can we persuade James to accompany his wife and our grandchild?” Her husband nodded his head and replied, “James’ heart doesn’t belong to Serene anymore, and she took my son’s love for granted. James has moved on, it’s a pity that Victoria is happily married now. Timothy is a lucky man to have a daughter-in-law like Victoria. We have nothing to lose, let’s talk to James today when he comes back from work.” His wife didn’t utter a word, she decided not to speak ill against Victoria in front of her husband.
  • After dinner, James’ parents told him that they would like to talk to him. They headed to the living room and sat down. “Son, how do you feel about Serene?” asked his father. James frowned because his parents were aware of his feelings towards Serene. He replied, “Dad, I don’t have any feelings towards Serene, I love Victoria.” His mother was upset and said, “James, your wife is carrying your child. You have to play your role as her husband. Victoria is no longer available; she is surrounded by love. Serene has been through a lot, please forgive her.” James sneered, “Serene is so heartless, I don’t want to associate myself with her. I don’t want to pretend; I know that Victoria is happily married but my heart is still hoping that Mark might abandon her. I regret letting her slip out of my hand, I was blind.” His mother became angry and said, “James, there is a baby involved now and you are no longer a child. You have to take responsibility. Your wife is coming home tomorrow, please don’t disappoint me.” James was shocked to hear that his wife was coming home. In fact, he was holding a grudge against Serene for beating Victoria and he would never forgive her. His mother looked at him annoyed, “I expect you to show your wife support in court tomorrow.” James kept quiet; he looked at his father with pleading eyes. “Son, you know that I don’t like Serene but please reconsider, your child is innocent.” James nodded his head, “I will go to court tomorrow as you wish, I will try my best to be a good husband, but I will never give her my heart.” His parents were happy to hear those words. Then they headed to their separate bedrooms.
  • The following day, the Johnson family went to court to support Serene. Jason Michael was already there to support his daughter, Macy. He was very disappointed in his daughter's actions, but he still loved her. Mr Johnson greeted Mr Michael before they sat down next to him. He nodded his head. Mrs Johnson looked around; she thought Victoria would come as well. She only saw Mr Cole, Mr Anthony’s lawyer. “Hubby, why is Victoria not here?” Her husband told his wife that Victoria wouldn’t oppose the bail. Hence, Mr Anthony sent his lawyer. When Serene saw the Johnson family she smiled, she looked around to see if her father was in court. She felt bitterness in her heart when she didn’t see him. Macy didn’t look around. She was ashamed of herself for causing pain to her family.
