Chapter 33 Cooking For Her Father In Law

• On Thursday evening, the Anthony family was having dinner in the dining room. They were on speaking terms, but the atmosphere was not harmonious. “Jonathan, don’t forget that tomorrow is the board meeting. I want to introduce you to everyone. Please be prepared. They might ask you about the project,” said his father. Jonathan was not aware that there would be a board meeting because he deleted the meeting invite before he read it. “Dad, I didn’t receive the meeting invite, I have prior arrangement.” His father told him that the meeting invite was sent to all directors, he took out his phone and opened the emails, he showed Jonathan his name. “Jonathan, I want to see you in the conference room at 2 pm, please be on time.” Jonathan was so angry; he promised his friends that he would take them out. They were going to Mozambique; leaving on Friday at 1 pm and coming back on Sunday afternoon.
• Jonathan woke up early. He was still upset, so he sent a text to his mother. He wanted her advice. His mother told him not to leave with his father to work. He went to the bathroom and took a shower. He wore a navy suit, white shirt, and red tie, he didn’t go to the dining room, he waited until his father left for work. Then he went to the living room. His mother was waiting for him. He greeted his mother, “I don’t know what to do mom, I have planned a long weekend with my friends, and I don’t want to attend the board meeting.” His mother comforted him, “why don’t you spend time with your friends during lunch and come back before 2 pm. Ask your deputy director to explain to you the gist of the project. You are smart my son, you will do well.”
• He was relieved after he had spoken to his mother and left for work. In the Marketing department, people were busy preparing for the farewell function. He decided that he would attend the board meeting with his deputy. Should they ask the questions, Cyril would be able to respond. He opened his computer and started playing games. He called his friends and told them that he would see them after 12 pm on his boat. He didn’t cancel their trip. Deon came to his office to remind him about the meeting. He was annoyed and said, “I told dad that I would be there, why are you in my face?” Since he deleted the meeting invite without reading it, Deon thought it would be a good thing to tell him and to avoid for the Chairman being embarrassed when his son stood him up. It was a kind gesture, but Jonathan was full of himself and didn’t appreciate it. Deon asked him to attend the farewell function at 12 pm. He told him that he had other commitments. Then he ignored him and continued with his games. Deon was speechless and left.
