Chapter 169 My Heart Is Full Of Gratitude

  • When they arrived at OR Tambo airport the whole family was waiting for them at the arrival area. Tamara was carrying a placard with their names. They smiled brightly when they saw them, they hugged and kissed them. Mr Anthony kissed Victoria on both cheeks, he looked in her eyes and said, “thank you so much for the love you have contributed to my family. Your kindness and your caring touch my heart deeply. I thank the Lord for you may He richly bless you.” Victoria smiled with tears in her eyes and thanked his father in law. They left the airport laughing and chatting happily. Mr Anthony and Mr Lewis went to Mark and Victoria’s car. Victoria was sitting with her father at the back seat, she looked at him and said, “Dad, I’m so happy for you for overcoming your fear and I’m so proud of you. Well done Grandpa.” Her father laughed and replied smiling, “I have to thank your father in law for that, he gave me some encouragement. We celebrated my achievement in style at The Cargo Hold restaurant. When you are in Durban you have to check it out, it has different and beautiful environment.” Victoria smiled at his father in law and said, “thank you so much Grandpa for pushing my father to go beyond his comfort zone. Much appreciated.” Grandpa Anthony was overjoyed when he heard how his daughter in love addressed him. He was grinning from ear to ear, his chest swelled with pride. Mark touched his father’s hand smiling and said, “you both did well Gramps. I hope you came back refreshed and energized because only three weeks left before the arrival of your grandsons.” When they arrived at the Anthony mansion there was a ‘welcome back’ banner. The siblings had prepared platters of finger lunch from His Wings restaurant to celebrate them for coming back safe and sound.
  • Victoria smiled at Jonathan and said, “brother in law, your brother told me that your birthday is next Saturday, what do you want as a gift?” Everyone looked at him, he smiled back at his sister in law and replied, “why don’t you surprise me my dearest sister in law?” Victoria nodded her head and said, “Tamara, do you mind helping me organizing the party?” Tamara walked to Victoria and touched her big belly and replied, “no can do my lovely sister in law you are heavily pregnant now. Please don’t tire yourself up. Uncle Patrick told us that Aunt Olga and her daughter Jewel will be visiting. I will ask them to help me with the party. It’s going to be Jonathan’s first birthday party with the family so it should be big and classy.” Everyone nodded their heads, Mark smiled at Tamara and said, “my lovely sister since the party is on Saturday, why don’t we decide about the venue and food now since everyone is present?” His father hugged Jonathan and said, “where do you want to hold your party Son?” Jonathan hesitated and replied, “Dad, let’s do it here to accommodate my sister in law, it will be easier for her to take a nap when she feels tired.” His father beamed and said, “that’s a great idea, the venue is sorted. Who will be responsible for food?” Theodore raised his hand indicating that he would be responsible for food and said, “why don’t we have a braai?” Mark replied, “seconded and I will buy meat.” His father told them that he would buy refreshments. Victoria smiled at everyone and asked, “why don’t we collect money and buy one big present or a voucher? What do you think brother in law, do you prefer individual gifts or one big gift?” Jonathan smiled at his sister in law and replied, “anything is fine with me.” Uncle Patrick indicated that he would be responsible for buying the gifts. Tamara smiled at her sister in law and said, “my dear sister in law, do you mind lending me Auntie Angel to help me with decorations on Saturday morning?” Victoria smiled back at her and replied, “I will let her know and I think she will thrilled to help.” Tamara beamed with excitement. Tamara told them that the dress code was all white. She had indicated in the invitation cards the dress code. Jonathan wished that his mother was not in prison. After her wounds were healed she returned back to prison. When she thought about her failed plan her heart became bitter. Her only hope was her son that abandoned her. Mr Lewis went back to his mansion late on Sunday to prepare for his visitors who were coming the following day.
  • At the Lewis residence the atmosphere was lively, people were laughing. Victoria was so happy to see her grandparents. She was eleven years old when she last saw them. After her mother’s funeral her grandparents tried to snatch her away from her father. Thereafter her father severed all ties with the Fish family. They reconciled after Aunt Olga returned to the Fish family. Her grandmother had tears in her eyes when he saw her precious granddaughter. She missed her a lot. She held Victoria’s hands looking at her with eyes full of love and said, “my beautiful granddaughter, I’m sorry for every pain we caused you it was not our intention, please find in your heart to forgive us.” Victoria’s eyes turned red, tears were brimming in her eyes and replied, “I wasn’t angry grandma, but I was sad that you never tried to reconcile with us until my father visited you with Aunt Olga. My heart was broken to pieces I felt abandoned grandma. When we were facing bankruptcy even though I knew that you don’t lack money your actions made it difficult to turn to you for help. I felt that the love you’ve shown me when my mother was still alive was all fake. You really hurt me grandma.”
