• When they arrived at Deon’s parents’ house, their children were in the garden with their grandparents. The butler told them that his parents were in the garden catching butterflies with the boys. Deon smiled they walked to the garden to join the fun. The boys screamed when they saw their parents. They were over the moon. They rushed to them; their father picked both of them up and kissed them. His mother was beaming when she saw them. She hugged her daughter-in-law, “Wow, you look stunning my dearest. What a beautiful dress. Who is your designer? How was your honeymoon?” Debby smiled shyly at her mother-in-law and replied, “It was wonderful Mom, and I didn’t want to come back. My husband’s friend designed this dress for me.” Her mother-in-law held her arm and ignored her son. His father greeted them, and then they walked to the house.
• Debby smiled at her mother-in-law and said, “Mom, I have a gift for you. I hope you like it.” Then she gave her the Louis Vuitton Speedy handbag. Her mother-in-law’s eyes lit up, “Thank you my daughter, what a beautiful handbag. I love it very much.” She showed her husband her gift, “It is beautiful my wife.” He thanked his daughter-in-law for a wonderful gift. His wife was overjoyed. She was hugging her handbag as if someone would snatch it away from her. Deon smiled at her and said, “Mom, no one will take that handbag away from you.” His mother looked at him with disdain in her eyes and ignored him. Then Debby gave her father-in-law an exquisite small box. When he opened the box, his eyes were big as saucers, he couldn’t believe his eyes. Sitting in an exquisite small box was a breathtaking set of cufflinks. He smiled brightly at his daughter-in-law, “Thank you so much my dearest daughter, the cufflinks are beautiful. I love them.” He showed his wife his gift. She was stunned when she saw them. She thought her gift was expensive, but when she saw her husband’s cufflinks she was rendered speechless. Last week, her husband was talking about these cufflinks. He told her that they cost more than one million rand. She hugged her daughter-in-law tightly and thanked her sincerely.
• The boys were waiting for their gifts as well. Their father gave them their toys. They were so happy. They thanked him; then they played with their new toys. Deon showed his parents the pictures they took at Sun City. His mother asked him to send the pictures to her phone. She wanted to show off to her friends. Then she asked her son to take pictures of their gifts. She wanted to post the pictures to WhatsApp as status. Debby carried the food that they bought at His Wings restaurant to the kitchen. Then she set the dining room table. After a few minutes, the butler informed them that dinner was ready. His parents were happy when they saw their favourite food at the table. The atmosphere was harmonious, they were chatting and joking. His father looked at his son with anticipation, “Are you going back tonight, Son?” Before Deon replied his mother responded, “They are going to spend the night with us, Hubby.” Deon smiled and said, “We are going back on Sunday afternoon Dad.” His father nodded his head, he was overjoyed. His mother was over the moon, she loved her daughter-in-law as her daughter. She was a good wife and a wonderful mother to her grandchildren. She treated them as her parents, they were very close.
