Chapter 29 James Has Fever

• “Serene, I’m not feeling well, let me take a nap. Then I will accompany you,” said James. He had a cold, his head was throbbing, and his body was heating up. “What is wrong James?” asked Serene. “I think I have a fever; my body is heating up.” After the engagement banquet, Mr Johnson moved Butler Ed to their apartment. Serene quickly called Butler Ed and instructed him to call the family doctor. Dr Michael checked James. He confirmed that he had a fever. He prescribed medicine for him; Butler Ed went to the pharmacy to buy them. James was sleeping in his bedroom. Butler Ed knocked at the door and told Serene that he had bought the medicine. Serene told Butler Ed to come in and feed the medicine to James. He remembered last time when James had a fever; Victoria used a syringe to feed him medicine, so he bought the syringe with medicine. He fed him the medicine using a syringe.
• Serene told Butler Ed that her best friend Macy Michael was having a birthday banquet. They were supposed to attend the banquet with James and if she didn’t come her friend would be disappointed. He asked Butler Ed to look after James while she was gone. She went to her closet, she took her gown, and left. Butler Ed was disappointed with Serene. He was reminded of that day when James was sick. Victoria was wiping his body with a cold towel, and she sat in the chair next to his bed the whole night watching him. In his heart, Serene was heartless. She chose to attend the birthday banquet while her fiancé was sick. It was ridiculous.
• Butler Ed went to the bathroom, filled the basin with cold water and started wiping James' body. He sat in the chair next to the bed watching him. In the middle of the night, he tried to hold Serene in his arms but there was no one. He sat on the bed. He saw Butler Ed sitting next to his bed with a towel in his hand, sleeping. This scene reminded him of Victoria. He woke Butler Ed up. He asked him why he was in his bedroom. Butler Ed explained the whole story, James was so upset. He thanked Butler Ed, he told him that he was much better; he should go to his room to sleep.
