• Glen Edwards walked to the bank and went straight to the enquiries. He indicated that he would like to apply for a loan. He was ushered to the Consultant’s room; he showed her the letter that he received from the bank indicating that they would lend him ten billion rand. The consultant asked him what he would put down as security. He indicated that he would put his house as security. He had a beautiful mansion at Sandton. It was a triple story with eight bedrooms. The consultant requested to see the company documents in order to finalize the application. He gave her cash flow statement, balance sheet and annual financial statements. She took the documents and promised to come back to him before the end of the week.
• She indicated that the loan department didn’t operate on weekends. She stated that they had to verify the documents provided by contacting relevant people during the week. In his case, they had to contact the Finance department to ensure that the information provided was accurate and correct, as well as the Credit Bureau for his credit-related financial information report. He looked worried when he heard the consultant’s words. They approached him themselves, so why are the delaying tactics? He felt defeated; he was silently cursing Mr Anthony for interfering in his life by sending the Debt Collector to him when he was facing financial difficulties.
• When his company was doing well, he cut off all the ties with his childhood friends, he didn’t lift a finger to help them when they needed him the most.
