Chapter 108 Monthly Allowance

  • Since Mr Anthony promised the reporters that he would speak to them after the trial was over, they waited for him patiently. It was rare to interview the richest man in the country. When they saw him they became excited, but they didn’t rush to him, they stood still with their microphones and cameras. He was in a good mood; he smiled at them and said, “I will allow one question per person.” The first reporter who raised her hand was Ben and said, “Mr Anthony, I heard that you left your ex-wife penniless after a divorce. Is it true?” Other reporters looked at Ben with worried eyes, they thought Mr Anthony would be angry and refused to answer their questions. They were surprised when they saw Mr Anthony smiling, “I left my ex-wife penniless? When we were married, I gave her more than one million rand per month as an allowance. If you don’t believe me, you can ask her best friend Miss Bongiwe for confirmation.” Ben walked to Miss Bongiwe and asked, “Miss Bongiwe is it true what Mr Anthony just said?” Before Bongiwe replied, Jonathan took the microphone from Ben and said, “It is true, my mother is a billionaire, my Dad used to give my mother five million rand per month as allowance and a black card on top of that. She indicated in the video clip that she gave Dad the money to start the company. She was twisting the truth. She didn’t contribute even a cent. Also, no one asked my mother to be a housewife. It was her choice. Auntie Bongiwe is my witness.” He gave Ben the microphone, and then he stood next to his father. Everyone was dumbfounded, Mrs Grace Anthony was despicable. Ben looked at Miss Bongiwe and said, “Is it true Miss Bongiwe?” Everyone looked at Bongiwe. “Grace chose not to work because the allowance that she was receiving from Mr Anthony was more than enough. Everything she said in the video clip was a lie, I’m so disappointed.” The reporters were stunned when they heard Bongiwe’s words. Mr Anthony looked at the reporters and asked, “Do you have any questions?” The reporters looked at each other. Ben thanked Mr Anthony for his time, and then they left.
  • Jonathan and Theodore rushed to the JHB General hospital to see his mother. When they arrived she was already awake, she was crying sorrowfully. She looked at her son with tears in her eyes, “Jonathan, please find a good lawyer for me. I want to appeal my sentence. Judge Harris was too harsh when handing down the sentence.” Jonathan felt the same too, but he didn’t tell his mother. Jonathan replied, “Mom, you know that the lawyers are scared to defend you because of your lies. Look at the video clip, everything you said was a lie. Who will defend you in future?” He was so scared for her; his mother was delicate and weak she would never survive in prison. Theodore looked at her, but he didn’t utter a word. He didn’t have any sympathy for her. Auntie Grace never showed any kindness to them when they were young.
  • In the parking lot, Mr Johnson and James walked to Mr Lewis. Mr Johnson said, “Patrick, I’m so glad that the evil woman is behind bars and Victoria and the babies are doing well.” Patrick smiled and replied, “thank you for your support Emmanuel, the nightmare is over. I’m grateful to the Lord for protecting my daughter and my grandchildren from harm. James, thank you sincerely, for saving my daughter.” Mr Johnson and James shook Mr Lewis’ hand, and then they rushed to the office.
