Chapter 77 Public Hospital

  • Mrs Johnson was furious; she looked at her husband and shouted out loud, “How can you allow another man to talk to your wife like that? Are you a man? I don’t care about the company; he can bankrupt us if he wants. I will never let Victoria go.” Emmanuel Johnson met his wife, Rosemary, in high school. Her family was poor, and she didn’t get a chance to go to college. After high school, she got a job at the supermarket as a cashier. Emmanuel studied at the University of Technology and obtained an Accounting Diploma; he was business-minded. He started the Johnson Group with his blood, sweat and tears, and then he married the love of his life, Rosemary. She resigned from the supermarket and never worked again in her life. Her husband was disappointed in her; he was so tired of her behavior. He decided to teach her a lesson, “My wife, I love you so much, please refrain from provoking Mr Anthony, I worked so hard for our company, Mr Anthony was not joking.” Mrs Johnson looked at her husband with disdain in her eyes, “I told you I don’t care, and I will never allow Victoria to humiliate me ever again. I will kill her this time.” Mr Johnson was fuming, he replied, “I told you that you were in the wrong place at the wrong time, the reporters were not there for you.” Mrs Johnson cried, “ever since you met Victoria you always take her side, I hate you. Do you think I’m scared of poverty? I don’t even care if I stay in a cottage for the rest of my life, when I’m better I will have my revenge.” Mr Johnson looked at his wife fuming, and then he left his wife’s ward. He asked the JHB General hospital Manager to transfer his wife to a public hospital. He indicated that his wife didn’t deserve to be in a private hospital. Within a few minutes, two nurses and porters came to her ward and started moving her. She shouted at them, “What are you doing?” They told her that they were following the instructions from the hospital manager to move her to another hospital. They moved her with her bed, but they left all the medication behind. The JHB General hospital Manager had already contacted the public hospital manager and they were waiting for her. As soon as the ambulance arrived, the porters and the nurse were waiting for her with a stretcher. When she arrived at her ward she found out that she was sharing the ward with ten people. There was no privacy. She was used to private hospitals with her private ward. She wanted to scream but she restrained herself. The nurse put her on her bed and left. She called her husband, but he just ignored her call. She tried to call her son James, but his phone was off. She refused to eat food; she was rude to everyone. The nurses didn’t give her anything for pain, when the anesthetic wore off she was in so much pain. She was crying and calling for a nurse for help. The nurse quickly came and gave her painkillers but they were not strong enough. Her ribs were hurting so much, the pain was unbearable.
  • Mr Johnson regretted asking for the release of his wife. She didn’t learn anything from the police custody. He went back to the company with his son. He told him that he moved his mother from JHB General hospital to a public hospital because he wanted to give her a taste of an ordinary person. Since his wife was married to a rich family, she lost Ubuntu. She looked down upon those people who had disadvantaged backgrounds. He tolerated his wife for too long, enough was enough. James was shocked when he heard his father’s words, “Will Mom survives in the public hospital? Will she be able to get proper medical treatment?” His father replied, “Your mother will survive. I want to remind her where she is coming from. Your mother has turned into someone I don’t like. She used to have a good heart. I don’t know if her heart was changed by riches, or if I spoiled her too much. She doesn’t even respect me as her husband.” James was aware that his mother was strong-willed, and his father adored her so much, maybe she took her husband’s love for granted like Serene. “When are you planning to move her back to JHB General hospital Dad?” His father replied, “I don’t know yet, your mother has become so arrogant because of our wealth. Let her stay there for a week and reflect.” They drove to the company with heavy hearts.
  • Victoria was in her husband’s car; she was smiling all the time. She looked at her husband and said, “Baby, I’m so glad that our babies are in good health, and we are allowed to have fun.” Her husband laughed out loud, “I’m happy too, my Sweetheart, I can’t wait to hold them in my arms.” Victoria smiled sweetly at her husband; she loved him deeply. “Baby, tomorrow morning at 5:30 am, I will be watching Australian Open Tennis Quarterfinals between Rafael Nadal and Denis Shapovalov. I’m looking forward to this match; I will be rooting for Rafa. Last year, he had foot problems and COVID19; he didn’t compete for more than six months. His opponent, Denis, is a talented left-handed young man; he hits the ball incredibly well.” Mark replied, “Rafa is the greatest player of all time. I believe that he will win tomorrow. I will be supporting him as well.” They arrived in the office, he took his wife in his arms and kissed her, and then he left. Victoria went to her father’s office, “Dad, I will be late tomorrow, my Rafa is playing Denis Shapovalov.” Her father smiled, “alright my beautiful daughter, I will be rooting for him too.” Victoria smiled and left her father’s office.
