Chapter 46 Divorce Settlement

• On Monday morning, Grace was released from police custody. She wanted to take a bath to wash off being locked up in police custody. When she arrived home, Jonathan was in the living room watching television. He just ignored his mother. Grace’s heart ached because everything she did was for her precious son. She went to the bathroom and took a long bath. While she was bathing, she received a call from her husband’s lawyer, Mr Cole, requesting to meet her at His Wings restaurant to discuss the divorce settlement. She asked Bongiwe to get her a divorce lawyer. Bongiwe managed to get Mr Donald for her. The meeting with Mr Cole was at 3:00 pm, and then she met her lawyer, Mr Donald, at 1:00 pm. She didn’t tell him about the Prenuptial Agreement, she told him that she would agree to divorce her husband if he gave her His Wings restaurant as a divorce settlement. She didn’t tell him that the restaurant belonged to her husband’s daughter-in-law.
• When Grace and Mr Donald arrived at His Wings restaurant, Mr Cole was already there drinking juice. Mr Donald was shocked to see Mr Cole. He was the best lawyer in the country. They shook hands; Mr Cole asked them if they wanted to order something to eat, they shook their heads. Mr Cole looked at Grace and said, “Mrs Anthony, Mr Anthony offered you five billion rand as alimony.” Grace laughed, “Mr Cole, please tell your client that I want His Wings restaurant as a divorce settlement, I’m satisfied with five-billion-rand alimony he gave me.” Mr Donald frowned, “Mr Cole, please give me some time with my client.” Mr Cole nodded his head, and then he left the table and went to the bathroom. Mr Donald looked at Grace and said, “I would advise you to accept the money. I think Mr Anthony is very generous. I have handled many divorce cases of rich people, but I haven’t seen anyone who offered his spouse a billion rand.” Grace sneered, “If Timothy refused to give me what I wanted, and then he must forget divorcing me.” Mr Donald was speechless; he felt that Grace was unreasonable. Mr Donald said, “Mrs Anthony, please reconsider, take the alimony and buy another restaurant.” Grace sneered, “Mr Donald, are you scared of Mr Cole because he is a big shot in the industry? Even if we take this matter to court we will win.” Mr Donald was offended when he heard Grace's words. Mr Cole returned to the table and sat down. “Mr Donald, do we have an agreement?” Mr Donald shook his head and replied, “Mr Cole, we would like to take this matter to court.” Mr Cole was shocked. Grace knew that she didn’t deserve a cent, but she misled her lawyer. He nodded his head and left the restaurant.
• He went to the Anthony Group to give Mr Anthony feedback. Deon ushered him to Chairman Anthony’s office. “Mr Anthony, Mrs Anthony indicated that she wants His Wings restaurant as divorce settlement. She indicated that should you refuse her request she would take this matter to court.” Mr Anthony was shocked. Grace was aware that the restaurant was given to Victoria as bride price. He replied, “Please file the papers urgently and start the litigation process. Grace doesn’t deserve my sympathy anymore. The restaurant is not even mine, but it belongs to my daughter in love.” He became upset. Grace was trying to sow a discord between him and his daughter in love. He would never allow that to happen. Then Mr Cole left the office to file a case with the court. Mr Anthony called his son Jonathan, “Hello son, are you busy this evening, is it possible for you to have dinner with us at your brother’s mansion?” Jonathan replied, “Hello dad, I’m not busy I will see you at my brother’s house.” Then he hung up, he was so excited that he would see his beautiful sister-in-law. Mr Anthony called his elder son, “Hello son, I invited Jonathan to have dinner with us, I want to discuss something with all of you. Could you invite your father-in-law to join us as well?” Mark replied, “I will ask my father-in-law to join us.” Then he hung up, he called his wife and told her about the dinner, “Baby, kindly ask my father-in-law to join us this evening, my dad has something to tell us.” Victoria promised to tell her father then she hung up the phone.
