Chapter 31 I Want Her Back

  • After work, James went to the parking lot, got into his car, and drove away. While he was driving, he was absent-minded thinking about Victoria. He found himself in his parent’s house's driveway. His mother was overjoyed when she saw her son, but her smile turned sour when she looked at her son’s sad face. “Who made you sad son, tell mom, I will resolve that issue for you.” He told his mom that he fell in love with Victoria, and he wanted to remarry her. “We were having a board meeting today, Victoria attended the meeting on behalf of the Planning Director who lost her mother, she is so beautiful mom, something happened in my heart when I saw her. She ignored me and flirted with Mark Anthony. I felt empty mom, like I lost something precious. I love her deeply, mom. I will never marry anyone except Victoria. I was so blind mom. I just hope I am not too late. I saw the way Mark Anthony looked at her, he loved her.” His mother was shocked, her son loved Serene so much. What happened?
  • “Don’t you love Serene anymore, are you fighting?” asked his mom astonished. James replied, “Mom, Serene is not what I thought she was, she doesn’t love me.” He told his mom that she left him with the butler while he was sick, not even once she checked on him. His mother was so upset, she knew that Serene didn’t deserve her son, but because she hated Victoria, she supported her son wholeheartedly. “Mom, don’t you have Victoria’s phone number?” “Don’t worry son, I will ask your father and he will give me her phone number.” said his mother. James was relieved after hearing his mother’s words.
  • Mr Johnson arrived home after James; he smiled at his wife and said to his son, “James, I didn’t know that you were coming home after work.” James looked at his father with a smile, “I didn’t plan it dad, I was absent- minded while driving. I saw myself on the driveway.” The butler informed them that dinner was ready, then they went to the dining room to eat. They were a happy family, the love between his father and his mother was evident. James wished for that love, but he knew that he would never get that kind of love from Serene. He cursed himself in his heart for being blind. “How is my daughter-in-law?” asked his father smiling. James didn’t know how to respond, “Serene is doing well dad.” His father smiled, “I am glad son, when are you getting married?” Mrs Johnson intervened and said, “leave my son alone hubby, the children just got engaged there is no rush.” James looked at his mother with eyes full of gratitude; he didn’t know what to say to his father. He didn’t love Serene anymore, there would be no wedding.
