Chapter 150 Human Heart Is A Mystery

• When Zion arrived at the Anthony residence Mark was alone in the sitting room reading a newspaper. He looked at Zion and asked, “how is Auntie Grace?” Zion was taken aback when he heard Mark ask him about Mrs Anthony’s well-being then he replied, “she will live, her Doctor told me that the knife missed the femoral artery. It is clear that Beauty didn’t want to kill or cripple her but to teach her a lesson. How was your relationship with Mrs Anthony before?” Mark indicated to him that they had zero relationship. Zion was puzzled because of the promised made by Mrs Anthony to her inmates. Then he told Mark that Mrs Anthony promised her inmates that she would bring him to the prison to visit Beauty. Mark was dumbfounded when he heard Zion’s words, he laughed out loud and said, “Auntie Grace had overestimated herself. Where did she get confidence from? She is nothing to me, I tolerated her because she was married to my father.” Then he asked Zion to follow him to the garden.
• They sat on the bench then Mark said, “I want to tell you a story, a close friend of mine dated his childhood girlfriend for five years. They were both coming from a wealthy family, and they loved each other so much. They were a match made in heaven. I couldn’t understand why they didn’t get married. Every time I would ask him when was the wedding date, he would say he was trying to know his girlfriend better. Eventually they got married and they decided not to go on their honeymoon because they were both very busy. Two days after they got married my close friend was involved in a car accident and he died on the spot. His wife was crestfallen, and she was in deep depression until she passed away. She felt that it was too much to bear because her beloved husband left her so suddenly. She forgot that the Lord had given them more than five years to cherish each other but they took it for granted. They couldn’t see their wedding photos together. Luckily, they didn’t have any debts because they were wealthy. I have learnt that no matter how wealthy you are but when you die you will not take your riches with you. She blamed herself for allowing work to be more important than their love for each other. She felt that maybe if they had went on their honeymoon her beloved husband would be still alive. So, I vowed that as soon as I find someone I love I will marry her immediately because you will never know a person’s heart. The human heart is a mystery, and you will be surprised. As you know that I married my wife a week after she proposed to me, and it was the best decision I ever made. I have learnt that we are living on borrowed time and tomorrow is not guaranteed. My wife is the most important person in the world for me. She is my world. Zion, you’ve known my sister for a long time, you know her personality. When are you proposing to her?” Zion smiled brightly at his brother in law and replied, “To tell you the truth I bought the ring two weeks ago, but I’m scared that your sister will turn me down.” Then he took the velvet box from his suit and showed it to Mark. Sitting in the exquisite box was a delicate 24 carat blue-diamond ring. It was breathtakingly beautiful. Mark was dumbfounded and asked, “with that ring, why do you think my sister will reject you?” Zion scratched his head and replied, “I’m scared that your sister will think that I’m marrying her because of my grandmother which is not true. I love her with all my heart.” Mark shook his head and replied, “my sister loves you so much and she will be so happy when you propose to her. Even if you are marrying her because of your grandmother so what? I think she will love your grandmother more because she made you to change your mind about marriage. If you are planning to propose to her don’t forget to ask my father for her hand in marriage before you propose to show respect.” Zion thanked his brother in law sincerely then Mark walked back to the house to accompany his beautiful wife.
• Zion was smiling from ear to ear then he quickly called His Glory hotel to make a reservation. He asked the Manager to arrange a romantic dinner and a Guitarist. Since it was short notice he couldn’t book Tamara’s favourite Guitarist, Sawyer Gray. After he finished he called his grandmother to tell her that he was going to propose to her granddaughter in law. His grandmother was over the moon. It was the best news ever; she didn’t want to go to heaven and leave her only grandson all alone. She started preparing for a betrothal gift for her beautiful granddaughter in law. He promised to send photos of his proposal to his grandmother and to bring Tamara to his grandmother to show her the engagement ring.
