Chapter 73 The Braai

  • Timothy Anthony called Theodore Cole to arrange the release of Mrs Johnson and Serene on Monday. He reminded him not to forget Macy, who was lying in JHB General hospital with broken ribs. Theodore promised his Uncle that he would arrange everything accordingly, and then they hung up the phone. Then he called Ben, the reporter, and told him that Mrs Johnson would be released on Monday. Ben thanked him and promised that he would capture beautiful pictures of Mrs Johnson. Previously, he made lots of money by selling Mrs Johnson’s pictures to the Sunday Times newspaper and his newspaper became popular. “Tamara, Mrs Johnson and them will be released on Monday. Mr Johnson approached your sister-in-law and begged her to release his wife,” said her Uncle. Tamara was so upset, “thank you Uncle for letting me know much appreciated.” Then they hung up the phone. She was fuming. She called her friends who were working at the Traffic department and told them the news. Then she asked them to block the road on Monday to delay Mr Johnson or James from fetching their loved ones. Macy was still in JHB General hospital, so there wasn’t a need to delay her father, Jason Michael.
  • Jonathan’s friends were sitting in the living room watching television, when they saw Mark and Victoria. Their eyes lit up. “Big brother, how did you meet our sister-in-law?” Mark smiled and replied, “She walked into my arms at His Wings restaurant two years ago, and we officially met eight months ago.” They knew that Victoria was married to James two years ago. “Were you not nervous to date such a beautiful lady? How did you propose to her?” Mark looked at Victoria smiling and replied, “I didn’t date her, your sister-in-law asked me out and she proposed to me.” They looked at Victoria laughing; they didn’t believe Mark’s words. Victoria looked at her husband smiling sweetly and said, “I was charmed by his handsomeness. After the divorce, I decided to pursue him. I was so nervous I thought he would reject me. I prayed and fasted for him to answer my call. When I was calling him, my hands were sweating. I asked him out. He agreed. Then I asked him to marry me. We got married one week later.” They were dumbfounded. Did she say she proposed to Mark? They wished they had seen her first. James was blind. “Sister-in-law, your love is like a fairytale, I wish I could meet someone like you.” Jonathan looked at them with annoyance, “when are you going to your own homes, we want to bond as Anthony family.” They looked at him with disdain and replied, “We are not here for you but for our big brother and sister-in-law. Jonathan refused to invite us to your engagement banquet. Would you be so kind as to invite us to your wedding?” Mark promised to send them the invitation cards. They were very happy. They looked at Jonathan gloating, and then they went to the braai area, to start the fire.
  • Victoria wanted to go to the kitchen to cook braai pap. Mark told her to sit down. “Sweetheart, please rest, I will cook braai pap. We still have the salads. There is nothing much to be done. Do you need something to drink?” Victoria was touched. She asked him to bring her mango juice. Mark fetched mango juice for her. He put her feet on the sofa to avoid swelling, and then he covered her with a throw. He kissed her and walked to the kitchen to cook.
