Chapter 40 Let's Get Divorced

• Grace was having lunch with her friend Bongiwe at His Wings restaurant. Bongiwe looked at her, “is everything alright, my friend?” Grace sighed, “Timothy hasn’t been home since the argument, I don’t know if he wants to divorce me.” Bongiwe was shocked, “Timothy loves you Grace, have you tried to call him?” Grace looked at her friend with sad eyes, “I lack courage to call him, I’m so sad. Jonathan is blaming me for ruining his life. When he came back from his trip, he told me that he wanted to work hard and make his father proud, but I told his father that I would never forgive him for forcing him to work. Since Jonathan came back, he locks himself in his room; he doesn’t even talk to me. He hates me Bongiwe; I don’t know what to do.” Grace had lost a lot of weight. Bongiwe comforted her friend, “sorry my friend, but you need to stop competing with Mark. I’m glad that Jonathan is turning over a new leaf; there will be peace in your house. Don’t make Timothy regret marrying you. Why don’t you call him, my friend, and ask him to come back home?” Grace promised that she would change her attitude towards her husband. “Let me cheer you up. Let’s go shopping for Mark’s engagement banquet.” said Bongiwe happily. Grace was dumbfounded, she wasn’t aware that Mark was getting engaged, “When it is happening Bongiwe, Timothy didn’t tell me.” Bongiwe looked at her, “it’s next week Saturday, on the 28th at Sweet Lake Resort. I can’t wait to go to that beautiful resort.” They left the restaurant; they went to the boutique shop. Grace indicated that it was too late to design a custom-made dress.
• After work, Timothy went to the Anthony mansion to fetch his important documents. Grace heard the housekeeper greeting her husband. Grace was sitting in the living room watching television. She sneered, “Finally, you decided to come back home, did your precious son chased you out?” Timothy looked at her and went to his study room. The housekeeper went to Jonathan’s bedroom to tell him that his father was in the study room. He thanked the housekeeper, and he went to the study room. Before he knocked, his father opened the door; he had a file in his hand. “Hello son, are you well?” said Timothy smiling. “I’m well dad, may I talk to you?” Then they went to the living room. They sat down. The housekeeper informed them that the food was ready. They went to the dining room to eat. The atmosphere was tense, Timothy missed his elder son's harmonious environment.
• After dinner, they went to the living room. Jonathan said to his father, “Dad, I’m sorry that I missed the board meeting. It was not my intention, please forgive me.” His father looked at him, “if it wasn’t your intention, why did you switch off your phone? I called you several times in front of the board members; I even defended you when they called you a good for nothing. If you were sorry, why didn’t you call me when you came back from your trip and apologize to me? I’m very disappointed in you. I was expecting great things from you. Your mother told me that she would never forgive me for forcing you to work. I will never ask you anything.” Then he took his file and went to the door. Before he opened the door, he heard his wife said, “I heard that Mark is getting engaged next weekend, why are we not invited?” Timothy looked at his wife and replied, “Why must I invite you; did you forget that Victoria is a divorcee?” His wife was stunned and said, “you want to abandon us now because you reconciled with your precious son, where were you for the past few weeks, did you forget that you have a wife?” Her husband laughed, “do you call yourself a wife, don’t make me laugh. Have you ever supported me as my wife? Let me make things easier for you, let’s get divorced, I will send my lawyer to you tomorrow.” His wife was shocked, she couldn’t utter a word. Jonathan was speechless; he couldn’t believe what had just happened. Then Timothy left and went back to his son’s mansion.
