Chapter 67 Summons

• The following day, Mr Donald went to court to sue Mrs Antony for knowingly holding the pertinent information during the legal proceedings, which put his professional reputation on the line. He indicated that she refused to listen to his legal advice when she rejected the money from her ex-husband. She caused him to be an embarrassment amongst his colleagues. Also, Mr Donald indicated that he didn’t receive any payments for services rendered. The Sheriff was given the summons to deliver it to Mrs Anthony at Bongiwe’s home address. Bongiwe told the Sheriff that she had kicked Grace out of the house, and she had no idea where she was staying. She gave Sheriff Jonathan’s phone number. She indicated that she was not sure if Jonathan knew the whereabouts of his mother because they were not on speaking terms. The Sheriff gave Jonathan a call. He was surprised to receive a call from him. The Sheriff indicated that he was looking for his mother to deliver the summons. Unfortunately, Jonathan didn’t know where his mother was staying. The Sheriff returned to the court and advised the court clerk that nobody knew the whereabouts of Mrs Anthony. The court clerk called Mr Donald to notify him that Mrs Anthony was missing in action. Mr Donald quickly called Bongiwe, “Hello Bongiwe, where is Mrs Anthony?” Bongiwe told him that she had kicked her out of her house, and she blacklisted her. She gave him Grace’s phone number. “Why don’t you try to call her, maybe she will tell you where she is staying.” Mr Donald thanked her, and then he hung up. Immediately, he called Mrs Anthony. The call was connected. Grace picked it up. She thought it was Bongiwe, “Hello Bongiwe.” Mr Donald sneered, “It’s Mr Donald, where are you staying?” Grace was so scared, she dropped the phone. Why was Mr Donald looking for her? Mr Donald became angry when Mrs Anthony dropped the phone on him. He called his assistant and instructed him to find Mrs Anthony’s whereabouts as soon as possible. After a few minutes, his assistant gave him the address. He called the court clerk and gave him Mrs Anthony’s address, and then he went to the Guest House to wait. Within a few minutes, he saw the Sheriff’s car. He was in the neighborhood. Then Mr Donald drove his car away. The Sheriff walked to the reception and requested to see Mrs Anthony. He was ushered to her room. The Sheriff served her the summons, and she signed to acknowledge the receipt. Then the Sheriff left the Guest House. She was dumbfounded when she saw that she had been sued by Mr Donald for withholding the pertinent information during the legal proceedings. How could Mr Donald prove that she didn’t tell him about the Prenuptial Agreement because Mr Donald didn’t record their conversation? She would deny everything. About the lawyer’s fees, she would claim that her husband didn’t give her a cent as a divorce settlement. Therefore, she was penniless. The court hearing will take place in two weeks’ time. She called several Law Firms and requested them to send a lawyer to her Guest House, but they all turned her down. They were scared that they would become a laughingstock like Mr Donald.
• At Anthony Group, Chairman Anthony and his two assistants walked to the conference room. The board of directors and department directors were already there waiting for their Chairman. He took the main seat; Mark sat on his dad’s right side and Deon on the left side. They were surprised when they saw Mark since he was the Deputy CEO of the Johnson Group. Did the Chairman poach him from the Johnson Group? They became excited, especially Shareholder King. He had shares at the Johnson Group. He interacted with Mark several times at the shareholder’s meeting. He knew that he was smart and capable. Chairman Anthony greeted everyone and thanked them for coming, “as indicated in the meeting invite, the agenda for today’s meeting is to introduce my son, Mark Anthony, as my assistant.” Shareholder King laughed out loud then he raised his hand, “Chairman Anthony, did you say Mr Mark is your son?” Chairman Anthony smiled and replied, “Mark is my son, do you have a problem with that?” Shareholder King replied, “I’m confused because Mr Mark is the Deputy CEO at the Johnson Group, I’m wondering what he is doing here. Also, why did you give him an assistant position because he is smart and capable? I think this move is like a demotion to him. What is he going to learn as an assistant? What I don’t understand is that you gave your good for nothing son the Director position, but you give your capable son an assistant position, I think it’s unfair.” Chairman Anthony laughed out loud, he replied with pride, “Mark resigned from the Johnson Group, I am willing to give him a CEO position, but he insisted to be my assistant. I agree with you, Shareholder King, my son is smart and capable, he deserves to lead this company, I’m very proud of him.” Shareholder King nodded his head, he wished his son was like Mark, “Mr Mark, please reconsider, I think the assistant position is below you.” Mark laughed and replied, “thank you Shareholder King for the vote of confidence, the reason I asked my dad to give me this position was to learn from him. Please give me time to learn.” Shareholder King nodded his head; he was satisfied with Mark’s response. Chairman Anthony smiled and said, “If there is nothing else, then the meeting is adjourned.” Shareholder King raised his hand and said, “I have a question regarding my friend’s contract. Hope Group sent a contract seeking cooperation, but it was rejected. Can the Chairman tell me the reasons?” Chairman Anthony told him that all the proposals for cooperation were handed over to Mark. Therefore, all questions regarding the contract approval or rejection should be directed to Mark. Shareholder King nodded his head and looked at Mark for response. Mark replied, “I remember the Hope Group contract, but I gave them reasons for rejection. Also, I indicated in the contract that as soon as they fix their mistakes they must bring it back to us for consideration.” Shareholder King was happy to hear Mark’s words. His friend didn’t tell him that he had been given reasons for rejection. He decided to give him a call after the meeting. Chairman Anthony told them that the meeting was adjourned. Shareholder King went to the Chairman and shook his hand and said, “Chairman Anthony, I wish I could steal your son; I like him so much. I have interacted with him several times when he was at the Johnson Group; he is mature and very smart.” Chairman Anthony was very proud of his son; he achieved so many things without asking him for help.
