Chapter 137 To Recharge Their Batteries

• In the blink of an eye Deon Adam’s leave was finished, it was time to go back to work. He rested enough at home with his lovely wife and his cute boys. They had a quality time. He woke up early in the morning to prepare for work. He walked to his bathroom to wash up. Debby walked to her husband’s closet and chose a blue suit with a white shirt and striped tie. She had her husband all to herself for the whole month, she was so happy. She was glowing. She hoped she was pregnant. She wanted a baby girl. Deon walked out of the bathroom wrapping a towel around his waist. Debby stared at her husband and her mind went blank. Deon chuckled, then he walked to his wife and kissed her gentle. Debby smiled sweetly at him, then she helped him to wear his clothes. He held his wife’s arm, then they headed to the dining room to eat. His wife made a sumptuous breakfast for him. He looked at his wife with love and thanked her. After breakfast, Deon kissed his wife, then he left for work.
• He arrived at work before everyone. Mark arrived shortly after him. Mark’s eyes lit up when he saw Deon. He shook his hand and said, “welcome back Deon, how was your leave? How was your honeymoon?” Deon smiled brightly and told him about their trip to Sun City. Mark was happy to hear that they enjoyed themselves. “Your wife comes first, and try by all means to make her happy. Mr Johnson gave me the go ahead to design your mother’s gown. Please make arrangements for us to meet. I need to take your mother’s measurements.” Deon was overjoyed to hear the good news. His mother was pestering him every day, “Thank you so much Mark, much appreciated. Is it possible to meet my mother during lunch break if you are not busy?” Mark smiled and replied, “Ask her to come to the small boardroom during lunch break. I’m glad that you are back, I’m invited by The Ark TV tonight at 8 pm.” Deon was surprised to hear that Mark agreed to do the interview. “Wow, we will sit by the TV tonight and watch you.” Then Mark walked to his office. He had a tight schedule today. He buried himself in his work, his father stood by the door and watched his son working. Mark raised his head, he smiled brightly when he saw his father and said, “Good morning Dad, are you well?” His father smiled back at his son, then he walked into the office and sat on the sofa. He looked at his son and replied, “I’m well thanks Son, how are you? I’m thinking about my grandchildren. Baby Tim is feisty like me. I can’t wait to spoil them rotten. Did you bring the 3D Ultrasound Scan CD, give it to me I will make copies for everyone. Are you ready for tonight’s interview?” Mark smiled, then he gave his father the CD and said, “I’m ready Dad. Since Deon is back from leave, now is your turn to take a vacation leave. I will be the Acting CEO until you come back. I want you to go and recharge your batteries and come back ready for your grandchildren. You can go to Durban and stay at our beach house, or you can go overseas.” His father was so touched tears welled in his eyes; he hugged his son tightly. He had never taken vacation leave since he established the Anthony Group. “Thank you so much my dearest son, I will call the Board meeting to let them know then I will be on vacation leave on Monday.” He left his son’s office in high spirits. He walked to Deon’s office and told him that he was going on vacation leave on Monday. Deon couldn’t believe his ears, since he joined the Anthony Group. The Chairman had never taken a vacation leave. He asked him to send an urgent meeting invite to the Board of Directors and Managers for Friday at 2 pm. Then he walked out of Deon’s office. Deon quickly sent the invite to everyone as per Chairman Anthony’s instructions. Then he called his mother and said, “Mom, young Mr Anthony will take your measurements today at 1 pm, please come with Debby.” His mother was over the moon. She screamed and hugged her husband. Then he told him the good news. Then she called her daughter-in-law and said, “My dearest daughter, please accompany me to the Anthony Group to meet young Mr Anthony.” Debby promised to fetch her around 11 am, then they hung up.
• Chairman Anthony was sitting in his office watching his grandchildren’s 3D Ultrasound scan. He didn’t want to work. He called Patrick to gloat, “Patrick, I’m going on vacation leave on Monday next week, don’t you want to join me? Mark told me that I needed to recharge my batteries to prepare for my grandchildren. You saw that baby Tim is feisty. Today I’m not going to touch any work, I’m watching the CD.” Patrick was so jealous and replied, “I’m coming to your office to watch the CD with you. Let’s go together on vacation; even though baby Pat is not feisty, I need to recharge my batteries too. I will be there in half an hour's time.” Then they hung up.
