Chapter 12 His Dad's Blessing

• James was busy with a project, he was exhausted, and he was sleeping at the office. He decided to take his work to their apartment. Serene was not happy when he saw James bringing his work home. For the whole week she didn’t see James because of this project. She wanted to go out to have fun, but James told her that he was busy. She kissed James and held his arm, “James, take me out to dinner. I’m craving for seafood please.” James was stunned, he was exhausted, he didn’t have enough sleep for the whole week, and he worked hard to meet the deadline. “Serene, I want to take a shower and sleep for a few hours and continue with my work. I will take you on a boat cruise on Saturday, please bear with me.” Serene decided to call her friends to have dinner with them at His Wings restaurant, and then she left without saying anything to James.
• James set the alarm for four hours before he fell into a deep sleep. Serene came back while James was sleeping. She didn’t bring any food for him. She took a shower and went to bed to sleep. She saw that James was sleeping peacefully. She switched off his phone. She kissed him and fell asleep. James slept until morning; the sun was up when he woke up. He remembered setting the alarm. Why didn’t the alarm ring? He took his phone; it was switched off. He heard a voice, “good morning my love. When I came back, you were sleeping peacefully. I switched off your phone,” said Serene with a smile. “Why didn’t you wake me up Serene, you knew that I had so much work to do?” asked James. He rushed to the bathroom, he took a quick shower. He quickly wore his clothes and rushed out of the apartment. He was having a meeting with his father this morning to give him feedback. When he looked at his watch, he was late. He overslept. He decided to call his father and tell him that he was running late.
• When he arrived at the office, he was an hour late. His father was with Mark Anthony, he was giving Mr Johnson feedback. “Well done, Mark, you did a good job, keep up the good work. Please leave us Mark; I want to speak to my son.” After Mark Anthony left, James apologized to his father. He indicated that he overslept because he was exhausted. His father knew that James hadn’t had enough sleep for the past week. “Why don’t you take leave just to recharge your batteries? You look exhausted. I will give you a one-week extension. When are you proposing to Serene?” James was astonished; he didn’t expect his father to ask him about his proposal to Serene since he didn’t like her. “Thanks dad, for an extension. I wanted to propose to Serene on Saturday on a boat cruise and come back on Sunday.” His father hugged his son, “I give you my blessing son.” James became emotional, “thanks dad, you are the best.” He was so happy, hearing his father giving him his blessing meant a lot to him, he left his father’s office and went to his apartment. He wanted a quiet place to sleep, since Victoria was at work, only Butler Ed would be at home.
