Chapter 85 Debt Collector

  • When Mr Lewis arrived at the restaurant, the Anthony family was already there. Victoria was drinking fruit cocktail juice. Patrick greeted everyone. Victoria looked at him and asked with concern, “what is wrong Dad?” Her father smiled and replied, “Glen Edwards visited me at the office, and he wanted me to ask your father-in-law to approve his proposal for cooperation. When my company was facing bankruptcy, he refused to help me even though he owed me billions of rand, provided you marry his good-for-nothing son, Robert. I refused and I chased him out of my office. From that day, we stopped talking. The sad part is that I valued our friendship, not knowing that he was using me. Most of my friends turned their backs on me when I was down. He didn’t even apologize or ask for forgiveness. I will never trust him again, once beaten twice shy.” Victoria was so shocked; her father didn’t tell her that.
  • Victoria went to her father and hugged him tightly, “I love you Dad, and you are the best Dad ever. Thank you for protecting me from the wolves. I’m glad that you didn’t ask me to marry Robert. He doesn’t respect women.” Timothy was beaming, “I’m glad that you refused him too, Patrick, and my Anthony family would have missed this treasure. I’m also glad that the Johnson family failed to appreciate my daughter in love. My life wouldn’t be like this if she didn’t meet my son. Therefore, I’m grateful and we will not allow anyone to steal her from our family.” Victoria had tears in her eyes; she walked to her father-in-law and hugged him tightly.
  • “As for Glen Edwards, I will teach him a lesson. I hate people who are ungrateful, nobody will help him. I will send the debt collector to him and ask him to pay all the money that he owes you. Give me the list of all the people who owe you, I will collect it for you,” said Timothy annoyed. The Manager came to greet them and took their order. The atmosphere was harmonious. They were laughing and joking. Her father-in-law said, “My daughter, I saw that Rafa won against Berrettini, I can’t wait for the Final on Sunday.” Victoria smiled and asked, “Dad, in the match between Tsitsipas and Medvedev who do you prefer to face on Sunday?” Her father-in-law replied, “I prefer Medvedev since he just won the USA Open title, even though Rafa didn’t have enough matches, but he is one of the best players in the business. He will be seen as the underdog; he won the only Australian Open title in 2009. He is hungry; I believe that the level will be high.” Victoria smiled, “that’s my prayer too, Dad. The win will give Rafa confidence since we are going to the Clay season. The French Open is coming soon.” Her father said, “It will be a breathtaking Final when Rafa and Medvedev meet. They are both brilliant.” The waitress came with their food, it smelled good. They ate in silence, the food was delicious. Then they all went to Mark and Victoria’s mansion. “Son, please show us our grandchildren’s nursery and their playroom. Patrick and I would do the decorations.” There were three guest rooms on the ground floor. “When the children came, we would move to the ground floor, then we would convert two guest rooms to the nursery and playroom, please follow me.” He showed them the rooms. They were spacious. “When are you moving the furniture out, we need to decorate and put up our grandchildren’s stuff.” Mark smiled and replied, “We are thinking of moving the stuff when my wife is seven or eight months pregnant.” His father said, “Son, leave everything to us, we will find people to move everything by tomorrow and start decorating the rooms.” Mark was dumbfounded, wasn’t too early to decorate? They were so excited; he decided to let them be.
