Chapter 23 Visiting Lewis Family

• On Saturday morning, Mark went to the Anthony mansion. He went early to discuss the betrothal gifts with his father. The Housekeeper opened the gate for him. His father was waiting for him in the living room. “Good morning dad” said Mark, smiling. “Good morning son,” said his father beaming and hugged his son. It felt like a dream, he was over the moon. He never thought that this day would come. He went to the kitchen to prepare tea for his son. He didn’t even ask the helper. He owed his son Mark a lot. He came back with two cups of tea on a tray. Mark thanked his father and took a sip. “How much did you prepare, son?” asked his father smiling. “Dad, I prepared a cheque of one hundred million rand. I am not sure if it is enough. Also, I bought health supplements for my father-in-law. Victoria is priceless, she is my life dad.” His father also prepared a Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime watch, towels, and expensive wines for Mr Lewis.
• At that moment, Grace entered the living room and sneered, “What is so good about the divorcee? Timothy, do you know that your precious Victoria is a divorcee? She failed to capture James’s heart for two years and she was abandoned. Priceless, dream on.” Timothy was so upset and said, “When did you know about Victoria’s marital status?” Grace became scared and replied, “Bongiwe told me on Thursday.” Timothy was fuming, “why didn’t you tell me?” Grace didn’t know how to respond she kept quiet. “I didn’t know that you hate me this much my wife, you knew that I was longing for my son Mark’s forgiveness, I wanted to have a good relationship with him for years but the first time you meet him you are trying to sow a discord between us. I am so disappointed in you.” Grace opened her mouth, but nothing came out. Mark looked at Grace and said nothing.
• Timothy asked the Housekeeper to call his son Jonathan; he was told that Jonathan hadn’t come home yesterday. He attended the bachelor party, one of his friends was getting married today and he was the best man. He was so shocked; Jonathan didn’t tell him that he wouldn’t be able to attend his brother’s betrothal ceremony. He told Mark to wait for him as he was going to get dressed. At 9 am, father and son left; Anthony family arrived at the Lewis residence at 10 am with lots of gifts. Timothy Anthony gave Patrick Lewis one hundred million rand as a betrothal gift and said, “This is our token of appreciation, your daughter is priceless.” Patrick Lewis was shocked when he saw the amount; he became emotional and wished that his late wife was still with him to see the goodness of the Lord. Then Timothy Anthony gave Victoria the title deed of His Wings restaurant and said, “Since you love this restaurant, it is yours.” Victoria was shocked. She thought Mr Anthony was joking when she first met him. She didn’t know what to say. Mark told her to accept it. Victoria thanked her father-in-law with a hug. She never thought that her favourite restaurant would be hers. She was grateful to her father-in-law.
