Chapter 209 Defamation Lawsuit

• When Theodore saw Aunt Abigail’s scandal on the social media, he was beyond shocked. He quickly called his uncle and said, “Uncle Timothy, have you seen what is written on the social media about Aunt Abigail?” Uncle Timothy replied, “Yes, Rosemary fetched Abigail’s father to teach her a lesson. Also, she arranged for the reporters to interview her stepmother.” Theodore was dumbfounded and asked, “How did she find out about their existence?” Uncle Timothy smiled and replied, “Rosemary investigated Abigail through my friend, Rich. I allowed him to provide information to Rosemary because I wanted to see what she would do with it. Now, it is time for her to face the consequences. I want to see how Emmanuel will protect his wife, Abigail, first before I make my move.” Theodore was so shocked Rosemary was ruthless but he was relieved to hear his uncle’s words. “Uncle Timothy, in honestly speaking, I don’t have any faith in Mr Johnson. He is too soft-hearted.” Uncle Timothy laughed and replied, “Theodore, don’t underestimate Emmanuel he will surprise you. He is a good man and he loves Abigail so much. I don’t see him stand-by and do nothing. Give him time and I am sure he will give you a call soon.” Theodore wasn’t convinced but he trusted his uncle’s words. He knew how important Aunt Abigail was to his uncle hence he wanted to take this matter in his hands. Then they hung up the phone.
• When Mr Johnson and his wife, Abigail arrived home, Butler Ed opened the door for them. He was shocked when he saw Mrs Johnson’s face but he was scared to ask. Mr Johnson asked him to cook his wife’s favorite food for lunch. Then he walked to their bedroom with his wife in his arms and put her in their bed. He looked at her lovingly and said, “Please bear with me, my love. I know that you are in pain, but this ointment will help you to relieve the pain and swelling.” Then he applied the ointment to her face very gentle. Abigail smiled sweetly at her husband and thanked him. She was exhausted emotionally and physically, she fell asleep very quickly. Emmanuel was blaming himself for bringing pain to his lovely wife.
• He got off the bed and went to his study room to call his lawyer, Mr Cole. When the call had connected he said, “Hello Mr Cole, I need your help. Is it possible to come to my house?” Mr Cole was sitting in his office waiting for Mr Johnson’s call. He agreed, and then he went to Mr Johnson’s house. Mr Johnson took him to his study room and said, “Mr Cole, thank you for coming on such short notice. I believe you have seen the news on social media. I want to sue my ex-wife for defamation of character. She is no longer Mrs Johnson but she is still using my name. My ex-wife’s behavior caused my wife and me emotional distress and financial loss. It also caused harm to our personal and professional reputation. My wife lost the cooperation of ten billion rand with the Sun Group. Her company's stock price dropped by 15% an hour ago and my company’s stock price dropped by 10%. Also, I want you to issue lawyer’s letters to those people on social media who are rude to my wife. When my wife is awake I will send you our marriage certificate and my divorce decree.” Mr Cole looked at Mr Johnson and said, “Mr Johnson, I was so surprised when I saw the news on the social media. Your ex-wife surprised me; I never thought that she would do this to you. It shows that the human heart is a mystery. However, I am glad that you are not soft-hearted towards your ex-wife. I don’t know if she is aware of the damage she has caused. Mr Johnson, allow me to rush to court to file the defamation lawsuit.” Mr Johnson shook Mr Cole’s hand then he sent him off. He walked back to their bedroom to join his wife. He held her in his arms and looked at her swollen face. His heart ached when he saw bruises on his wife’s beautiful face. He received a message from Victoria asking him to be strong for Aunt Abigail.
