Chapter 81 I Regret Giving Birth To You

  • The receptionist called Victoria, “Miss Lewis, I just received a parcel for you, kindly send someone to pick it up.” Victoria thanked the receptionist and hung up. She was finalizing the project with Sam Tate and Jonathan. “I’m happy with what we have achieved; I have confidence that the board will approve it. I will run it by Dad later. Dad has called a board meeting. Please attend the meeting with me tomorrow at 9 am.” said Victoria smiling. “Are you not going to watch the Nadal and Berrettini Semi-final match?” asked Sam Tate. In the second Quarter finals between Berrettini and Monfils, Berrettini won by 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 3-6, 6-2. “I believe that Nadal is going to win, I don’t see Berrettini giving Rafa any problem.” They nodded their heads; Rafa was not a stranger in Grand Slams. “Brother, kindly fetch my parcel at the reception.” said Victoria to her brother-in-law. Jonathan quickly left the office and headed down to the reception area.
  • At that time Grace was entering the Lewis Group, when she saw her son walking to the reception area she became angry. She rushed to him and slapped him twice while shouting, “Jonathan Anthony, what kind of a son are you? You abandoned me as soon as I left your father; you chose to follow my worst enemy who destroyed my marriage. I was calling you all the time, but you didn’t pick up my calls. I was there for you all the time when you made a fool of yourself. I’m the one who was cleaning up your mess, but today you chose your father over me. Everything I’ve done I did for you. Is your heart made of stone? You are so heartless. I’m ashamed to call you my son, I regret giving birth to you.” Then she wept sorrowfully, Jonathan was dumbfounded.
  • The reception area became crowded; people were watching a good show. Security guards walked to Grace, they wanted to throw her outside the building, but Jonathan stopped them. He looked at his mother and said, “Mom, I’m sorry to be a disappointment to you. Unfortunately, you reap what you sow, since I was young you taught me to fight for my inheritance. You’ve never encouraged me to be a better person. You told me that there was no need for me to go to school because I would inherit everything when my father died. When I was busy creating scandals, I don’t remember you telling me that I was a disappointment to the family. You know what I’ve learnt Mom, the inheritance that you are always talking about is not even mine, but it belongs to Mark since the Anthony Group was founded with the money left by Mark’s mother.”
