Chapter 136 Please Don't Ever Call Me Again

• A week had passed since Serene was chased out of the Johnson residence; she was in a sorry state. She was hoping that her mother- in- law would soften her heart and bring her back to the Johnson residence. She wasn’t aware that James had threatened her mother to cut ties with her should she take her back. She starved herself. In a week she lost ten kilograms. She took her phone and called Macy; it was the first time she called her after their release from police custody. The call went through, “Hello Macy, how are you doing?” Macy was still mad at Serene and replied, “what do you want, Serene?” Serene was taken aback when she heard Macy’s words and replied, “I’m sorry for everything I put you through, please forgive me. Do you mind visiting me at my apartment? I don’t have food, I’m scared of my baby.” Macy hardened her heart and replied, “it’s none of my business, Serene. Please don’t ever call me again.” Then she dropped the phone. She felt that Serene was using her, she wasn’t a true friend. She took their friendship for granted. Serene was dumbfounded it was the first time Macy spoke to her like that. She decided to call Sandra, one of her friends. “Sandra, I’m starving, I don’t have food. Please help me.” Sandra was soft hearted, she dropped everything. Then she went to His Wings restaurant to buy food for Serene. When she arrived at Serene’s apartment, Serene was not looking good. She decided to call an ambulance for her. On their way to the hospital Serene asked Sandra to call her mother-in-law and told her that she was in JHB General hospital. Dr Cain put her on an intravenous drip, then he monitored the baby’s heartbeat.
• Mrs Johnson was having tea with her friends when she received a call from Sandra. She was so scared she quickly called her husband, “Hubby, Serene is admitted to the JHB General hospital.” Mr Johnson dropped everything. He walked to James’ office and told him that Serene was in the JHB General hospital. Then they went together. On the way, Mr Johnson called Dr Cain. He indicated that the baby’s heartbeat was very low. Then he told him the ward number. They arrived at the same time as his wife. Serene was sleeping but Dr Cain was on the ward. He told them that Serene starved herself and it was affecting the growth of the baby. He further explained that it could cause harm to the baby because the baby didn’t get proper nutrients for him to grow. They were so upset it was clear to them that Serene starved herself on purpose because she wanted to go back to the Johnson residence. She toyed with their grandchild because she wanted Mrs Johnson's title. Mrs Johnson was scared that Serene would starve her grandson. She sent Butler Ed to store Serene’s fridge and the cupboards with food the same day she left the Johnson residence. Dr Cain told them that he would keep Serene overnight for observation.
• Then the Johnson family left the hospital with heavy hearts. Mrs Johnson was fuming and said, “I want to go to Serene’s apartment.” When they arrived at the apartment, she walked to the fridge and opened it. The fridge was fully packed, then she opened the cupboards. They were fully packed as well. She looked at her husband and said, “Serene is so heartless she can do anything to be Mrs Johnson. What should we do, Hubby?” Mr Johnson looked at his son and said, “James, I want you to make a decision because Serene is carrying your baby.” James didn’t want to see Serene again, but his baby’s life was at stake, “Dad, since Serene wants to be Mrs Johnson at all costs and she didn’t care about the well-being of the child I will give her what she wants. Mom, when she is discharged from the hospital, please fetch her, and take her home.” Her mother was relieved to hear her son’s words. She was scared that Serene would kill her grandson.
