Chapter 107 Closing Arguments

  • The courtroom was packed to capacity. They were looking forward to the closing argument of Mr Day since the evidence was clear that Mrs Grace Anthony committed a crime. Mr Timothy Anthony walked to court with Mr Patrick Lewis, followed by Jonathan and Mark, then Tamara and Theodore. Mr Emmanuel Johnson and James walked after them and sat in the row behind them. When James heard that everything was orchestrated by Mrs Grace Anthony, he decided to come to court to give the Anthony family support. He wished that Victoria could open her eyes and leave the Anthony family. He felt that he could protect her better than Mark. He forgot that he had failed to protect her from his mother, Mrs Johnson.
  • Mr Cole walked to the front row and sat in the Plaintiff's seat. Mr Day came in followed by Mrs Grace Anthony and sat on the Defendant's seat. The officer of the court told the audience that recording during court proceeding was not allowed. Thereafter, Judge Harris came and sat on the bench. He banged his gavel to indicate that the court was in session. Judge Harris addressed the court and said, “I will allow both sides to provide us with their closing arguments. Thereafter, I will review the evidence, and then I will rule on the matter. I will ask Mr Cole to begin with his argument.”
  • Mr Cole looked at Judge Harris and said, “Thank you Your Honor, the evidence presented before court showed that Mrs Grace Anthony was the instigator. She lured the innocent child to kill Mrs Victoria Anthony without a reason. She didn’t show any remorse towards her pregnant daughter-in-law. We all saw the video clip indicating that Mrs Grace Anthony was behind the offences she was charged with. According to the video clip, Mrs Grace Anthony asked Mr Terry to stab Mrs Victoria Anthony to death. We are grateful that Mr Terry changed the original plan. We would have three corpses in the morgue. The Anthony family nearly lost their beloved Mrs Victoria Anthony and the two babies. Mr Terry and Dr Cain’s evidence is reliable and credible. Your Honor, we have proved this case beyond reasonable doubt. Therefore, the court should find Mrs Grace Anthony guilty.” He thanked Judge Harris and sat down.
