Chapter 443

  • "You can't just impose bed rest on me you know" I answer with a small smile. The further into my pregnancy I've gone, the more concerned Rhode has become about things going wrong. So much so that he asked me if I could begin my maternity leave at 30 weeks instead of 34 like I had already organized with my job. But since I said no (I believe my explicit response was "fuck no") I agreed that when my maternity leave did start I would basically put myself on bed rest (or my version of it).
  • "Can too, we agreed" Rhode responds with a wide grin as he assembles another drawer onto the structure. So far so steady, but there's still someway to go.
  • "Just so you would stop freaking out" I explain with a warm smile. Everything seemed to set him off; I'd complain about how sore my feet were or how tired I was and he'd immediately go into panic mode and worry about if the baby and I were okay. Every-time we go to a doctors appointment I have to first apologize to our doctor about the nine calls Rhode has placed to her in between our last visit two weeks beforehand. Dr Hughes is great, she always answers his calls and puts his mind at ease and is always very encouraging of his involvement in the pregnancy.
