Chapter 404

  • "Feeling any better bub?" I ask as I enter back into the bedroom. It's been a few days since my birthday and it seems that Amelia has been struck by some sort of flu that's rendered her pretty much bedridden the last day and a half. Amelia is lying on the white sheets, bunched up around her blinking up at the ceiling. From here I can see that she's not doing well, her skin is a whole new level of pale and her lips are completely dry. She's been like this for at least a day, she felt a little better yesterday afternoon but then it picked up again last night.
  • "Nooooo" She answers, tilting her head to the side as I sit down beside her on the sheet and put a hand on her hip. "How was the conference?" She asks weakly.
  • "It was good, you would have been bored out of your mind. Just a panel of 6 rich white guys telling the audience that it's 'easy if you work hard'. No other representation whatsoever" I say with a roll of my eyes. It was a complete waste of time honestly, and I do wish I hadn't agreed to be a part of it but I made a commitment and I believe in sticking to my commitments. Amelia gently pouts out her lips and softly sighs.
