• Amelia didn't have that same comfort, that safety net below her so that even if she falls she knows she'll be caught. It's why she appreciates everything so much more than I do, why she shows her appreciation and gratitude when people are kind to her. The world has been so unkind to her.
• "I'm sure it was great" I offer her some comforting words. And to my surprise, Amelia giggles and rolls her eyes.
• "It was barely edible but we got by. My mum used to love to cook...well she liked cooking, but baking was her thing. She used to make beautiful tarts and bread and quiches, out of almost no ingredients. And it all tasted so incredible, I never felt like I lived without.
