• Finally, he lets out a sigh and I lift my head up to watch him push his hair back with his hand.
• "Did you have to leave to do that?" He asks me quietly, unable to keep the pain out of his voice. My chest feels tight as I shake my head.
• "At that point I didn't think that I deserved to be as happy as you made me. I knew that I was a deeply fucked up mess, and that you shouldn't have to deal with that while I unpacked it all" I reply in a hushed tone, quite frankly ashamed of my answer. I wish I had never left, I caused so much unnecessary pain for the both of us. The state of mind that I was in when I left was so completely different to where I am now.
