Chapter 218

• This is the shit that really sucks. She's not been looked after, not for a very long time at least. That's my job, that's what I'm here to do. Whatever she wants or needs, I need to figure out a way to get her to understand that she's not an inconvenience, that she never has been. She's a gift, a precious gift that you take care of.
• "Sure" she mumbles shyly. "That would be nice" she adds quietly as she presses her head into my chest, curling her body tightly up against mine. I can feel her heart beating quickly against my ribcage, I'm sure she must feel mine hammering underneath her hand.
• "Good, now go to sleep I'm fucking exhausted you don't ever shut up" I joke with her, kissing the top of her head as she laughs. I've been keeping her up this whole time with my incessant talking about a future that we could have talked about on the car ride home. But now I stretch my free arm up to the wall and switch off the light switch that once casted a warm yellow glow across my room. Now as I shut my eyes and hold my girl close by my side, I scan through the areas close by the hotel that could potentially house my new home.
