Chapter 374

• I call her a few times while I'm away and she doesn't pick up, maybe she wants to wait until we're in person to figure this all out. I really hate fighting with her, I've barely been able to focus during the different meetings I've had to go through whilst I've been away. But now I'm in the elevator of my home, the home I share with her, she must be inside it's pretty late at night.
• I wheel my suitcase out of the elevator and find the place in pitch black, not a single light in the main entrance is switched on. Amelia likes to leave some of the lights on, she kept stating that she was scared of 'breaking some sort of priceless artefact' when getting a glass of water in the middle of the night. I switch on the lights and find the place eerily quiet and immaculately tidy. Too tidy.
• "Bub, I'm home!" I call out to the apartment, earning only my echo as a response. I leave my suitcase in the foyer and bring the bouquet of flowers I picked up from the airport, everywhere else was closed and I didn't want to come home without any. I lay them down on the counter and head up to our room, maybe she's asleep?
