Chapter 406

• How does one even buy a pregnancy test? Why are there so many different options? Why is there not one straight forward one, are some more accurate than others? These are all thoughts I had on the walk back to the house, a small yellow plastic bag of pregnancy tests in my hand.
• Back in our bedroom, Amelia is sitting on the floor, her back against the wall beside the bathroom. She seems paler, she must have been sick in the time that I left the house.
• "Got a couple of different ones" I say with a slight cough as I sit the bag down on the bed and take out the four different boxes. "I think they're all basically the same" I continue as I pick up the boxes and hand them to her. She picks one and takes it out of its packaging, her water bottle sitting half empty beside her. She doesn't say anything, just takes out one of the sticks that resembles a thermometer and reads the back of the pack.
