Chapter 266

• I wake up with a sharp shooting pain in my head, pain radiating behind my closed eyes. My cheek is resting on Rhode 's shoulder and I can feel his stumble against my temple. He's cradling me against his chest as it methodically moves up and down. I squint my eyes open despite the pain and take a peek over his shoulder at the clock beside his bed. 0727, seems he's decided to sleep in with me today, though it was a late one last night.
• Memories of last night start to slowly trickle into my brain; so many shots, so much dancing and the unpleasant memory of one of Rhode 's exes. I think I was rude to her but I don't know how bad it was, why did I drink so much? In retrospect, despite the hiccup with what's her face (Polly? Penny?) it was a really fun night. Sarah and her friends are really nice genuine people who I had a lot of fun with and Rhode 's friends were all very nice and welcoming.
• I slide my head back gently onto the pillow and look up at Rhode 's sleeping face. His eyelashes sit against his cheek as he breathes evenly, one of his hands still tightly clasping my waist. I can make out the small markings of where I scratched him yesterday on his shoulder, I know he says that he likes them but they make me blush every time I see them, like everyone knows how he got them and who gave them to him.
