Chapter 10 Thank You

  • Yu Yimo’s legs were too long, and he had a long stride, so Ruan Shishi could only trot after him.
  • They entered a restaurant that served private home cuisine. The staff of the restaurant seemed to know Yu Yimo in person, as they immediately led both of them inside upon seeing him coming.
  • After taking their seats inside a private booth, the waiters began serving them. Then, their lunch was served. It looked like the lunch was arranged in advance, as they could enjoy their meal as soon as they came.
  • Ruan Shishi couldn’t help admiring Yu Yimo’s greatness once again.
  • It was very quiet inside the private booth. Yu Yimo seemed to be taking care of his work, as he never turned his gaze away from the tablet that Du Yue handed to him.
  • There were only two of them who were enjoying the table full of dishes inside such a spacious private booth. Ruan Shishi felt that the lunch was quite a waste, but she thought that such extravagance might be considered normal for Yu Yimo’s prestige.
  • Ruan Shishi held the teacup in her hand and took a small sip. Then, she raised her head and said to Yu Yimo, “Thank you for what you did just now.”
  • Her voice was very soft, as she was afraid of disturbing Yu Yimo while he was working.
  • Yu Yimo continued his work at hand as though he didn’t hear what she said.
  • Ruan Shishi didn’t speak again, but she expressed her gratitude from the bottom of her heart.
  • In reality, when she was facing Yang Yue just now, she was afraid deep down inside even though she looked fierce on the outside at the time.
  • Besides being afraid that Yang Yue and Qin Xianli would gang up against her, she was even more afraid of remembering her past.
  • Two years ago, the two of them stood together and humiliated her with their words just like how they did on this day.
  • The man whom she had once thought to love her the most stood next to another woman while reproaching her for her past mistakes. He told her how painful and unbearable he felt back in the days when he was dating her.
  • Upon recalling the memory, Ruan Shishi’s nose reddened, and tears began welling up in her eyes.
  • Her love, which she once thought was wonderful, was shattered into pieces by Qin Xianli and Yang Yue just like that.
  • Suddenly lost in her painful memories, Ruan Shishi didn’t notice that Yu Yimo was staring at her.
  • After staring at her for only a few seconds, Yu Yimo frowned and called, “Ruan Shishi.”
  • His chilly voice penetrated Ruan Shishi’s eardrums, causing her to shudder. She immediately raised her head to see the indifferent look in his eyes.
  • She immediately realized that she had lost her composure. She wiped her tears while saying, “I’m sorry. I…” She wanted to say that she didn’t mean to lose control of herself on purpose.
  • Before she could finish her sentence, Yu Yimo interrupted her, “Remember that you are my wife, so you don’t have to apologize to anyone. You don’t have to be afraid of anyone either.”
  • His expression was cold, and there was a trace of anger in the tone of his voice.
  • Ruan Shishi was slightly afraid of his attitude. She could only press her lips together and nod her head obediently.
  • At the same time, she asked herself if she had brought shame onto him just now.
  • The scene of her spatting with Yang Yue was indeed quite embarrassing.
  • “I…” She wanted to say that she had now understood her fault.
  • After a brief silence, Ruan Shishi wanted to say some words of apology, but she immediately shut up upon meeting Yu Yimo’s gaze. She subconsciously straightened her back like a schoolchild who was waiting to be lectured after committing a mistake.
  • At the sight of the scene, Yu Yimo couldn’t help but ease his expression somewhat; even the tone of his voice became a lot more temperate as he said, “Let’s eat.”
  • After enjoying the meal, Yu Yimo returned directly to his office. Ruan Shishi, on the other hand, had lost her interest to continue shopping because of the incident.
  • So, Du Yue drove her home.
  • Seeing Ruan Shishi looking upset during the ride, Du Yue opened his mouth and said, “Madam, please remember to call me if such an incident happens again in the future. I will come to your assistance as soon as possible.”
  • “I didn’t know that such an incident would happen either. It looks like I have upset him. Do you think that I have caused him to lose face?”
  • Ruan Shishi still remembered how Yu Yimo was looking angry while they were having lunch. After all, hitting someone in public was not something that a cultivated person should do.
  • Du Yue didn’t understand who Ruan Shishi was referring to at first. Only after half a second did he say in realization, “Madam, there is no way the President will be angry with you. If he is angry, he should be angry with me.”
  • “What did you mean by that?”
  • “Madam, the President might not say anything on the outside, but he truly cares for you. He has sent someone to acquire the Yang Family’s company just now.”
  • Ruan Shishi recalled what Yu Yimo said to Yang Yue upon hearing Du Yue’s reply. She had thought that Yu Yimo was simply threatening Yang Yue, but little did she expect him to actually do what he had said.
  • With that, her mood suddenly improved a lot.
  • Du Yue then continued, “Madam, the President was angry because he was worried that you will be put at a disadvantage. He is a person who always sides with his people.”
  • “Really?” Ruan Shishi took Du Yue’s explanation with a pinch of salt, but her mood had visibly improved a lot.
  • Never did she expect that Yu Yimo looked distant only on the outside.
  • Du Yue panicked deep inside when he saw Ruan Shishi smiling as he had a feeling that he had been talking too much. The President might teach him a hard lesson if he knew about this!
  • But, for the sake of the harmony of the President’s family, it would be worth it even if he got a hard lesson for doing so.
