• The next four weeks passed swiftly and I kept making excuses to leave the house and spend time with Anna. At school she ignored me and we met up four times a week. Slade covered for me and kept my secret. Dani was getting really irritated with me because I didn’t acknowledge her at all and yet she kept coming over and carried on like we were in a relationship.
• Slade and I had turned seventeen and I had basically forgotten about Kai and his request for me to appeal my banishment. I had never heard of anyone appealing a banishment before and I told myself it was better to ignore it. My mother urged me to speak to Kai about the appeal so that I could go home.
• I didn’t want to go home. I had a new life in Cloverdale, a life I liked. Anna was here and my pack was here. I felt at home in Cloverdale. I knew that this was where I was meant to be and my feelings for Anna had changed very quickly. I loved her.
