• Jace remained sitting at the counter, and I had no idea what to do. I wasn’t big on comforting people, except Saga and Kari. This was unknown territory for me, because the men in my family either showed everything or nothing. I’d never seen Levi break down, but my dad showed his emotions all the time. It was a bit confusing.
• He lifted his head, and I realized he was laughing. “I’m sorry.” He kept laughing, and after a while, I joined him, having no clue why we were laughing. “I just thought to myself, all this crazy shit happened, but we never ate.”
• “Shit, Jace. You’re killing me, and now I’m hungry,” I said, as we started to laugh again. I opened the fridge and looked inside. I took out the leftover pasta, put it in the microwave, and heated it up. The microwave pinged, and I dished up the pasta for us and grabbed utensils.
