Chapter 24

• Adara was startled awake by the sound of sirens. The blue and red lights flashed through her window. She got out of bed quickly and ran into the hallway as the paramedics pushed a gurney down the hall with Juniper strapped onto it, groaning, and crying.
• “What’s going on?” Adara asked, but they all ignored her and Ramos came running behind them.
• “The baby, the baby …” It was all he could get out as he pushed her aside and ran down the stairs.
