Chapter 710

• I was in my sitting room drinking from the bottle of Scotch when Adelie knocked on the door. I didn’t particularly want to see her. I knew that I overreacted in the restaurant but it still irked me that she didn’t include me. It was my child too. It felt like something she would do on purpose to irritate me, something she could use against me and it pissed me off.
• “Come in,” I said when she knocked again. I was sitting with my back to her and I didn’t stand up when she walked inside.
• “I just wanted to give you this,” she said as she stood behind me.
