• We stood on the sidewalk while Kiran, Malachi, and Levi spoke in hushed voices to each other. I didn’t really want to know what else they had in store for me; even though I had fun, I still had a shitload of work to do.
• They turned back toward us and Kiran had another grin on his face, one that almost made me groan. I hated not having my magic at my disposal, and he probably knew that. He clasped his hand on my shoulder and nudged me forward.
