Chapter 295

• I forced my eyes open and I smelled blood everywhere. I heard screaming and I turned my head to the side. I saw Jessica hunched over Malachi, he moved his foot and I sighed with relief. If he was moving, it was a good sign.
• He was still alive. I couldn’t see what Jessica was doing but I hoped she was getting the bullet from his neck before he bled out. I felt disoriented. Malachi was here, he took three bullets for me and now he was dying.
• I felt confused as to why they were here and why he had tried to save me. I couldn’t think rationally and I looked around for Adara. I saw her walking towards me, she was smiling as she knelt next to me. Her scent enveloped me and I inhaled deeply. I just needed her. If she was here, then everything was fine and we’d succeeded.
