• The girl stood behind me and she started whispering in my ear. “Ed’s been a bad boy. You should teach him a lesson.” I ignored her but I looked over at Ed. “He’s been looking at Tala. In a few moments he’ll walk over to her table and put his arm around her shoulders. You never know, Kai, he was friends with Greg.”
• I felt ice cold as she disappeared. I kept looking at Ed and I shivered when he stood up and walked over to Tala’s table. She could kick his ass without a doubt, but at school we were all different. Ed sat down next to her and before I knew it, I was on my feet and making my way toward them. The girl was still in my head, whispering things to me, things Ed wanted to do to Tala.
• I didn’t say a word as I came up behind Ed and I grabbed him and pulled him off his seat as everyone watched us. “Get away from her!” I started punching him as he held his arms over his face and it was like Kyle all over again. I couldn’t stop even though I knew he was bleeding and that I was really hurting him. Gunnar pulled me off him and the worried look in his eyes told me everything.
