Chapter 567

  • I drove up the familiar dirt driveway, and the house came into view. Jace gaped through the windshield, and I parked the car on the far side, on the outside of the garage. Falcon and Jace climbed out when I did, and they were both staring at the house. It was imposing when you saw it for the first time.
  • I opened the garage and noted that neither of my parents were at home. That would make this a little easier. We walked in through the side door, and I wondered where they were. Adara mostly worked from home. The house felt too quiet but I was glad we were alone.
  • “Home sweet home,” I said, as Falcon looked around, and I put my bag down on the floor.
