- On Saturday night, I waited until 9 PM before I rode to the bar. I parked on my usual spot on the sidewalk and looked at the bikes lined in the parking lot. The usual crowd was there and I smiled. Tonight was the night I’d be cornered. I put my phone on silent, knowing Jo wouldn’t call me. I’d spoken to the kids a few hours earlier.
- I looked around the quiet street and opened the door of the bar. Jordan Reed was sitting at a table in the back and the prospects all lifted and turned their heads when I walked inside. I headed to my usual seat and placed my helmet on the bar.
