• I drove to his training center and parked the Jeep across the street. I pushed the door open and watched Levi working on his wooden dummy for a few minutes. He stood with his back to me and he turned as I closed the door behind me. His hands were bloody, and he just looked at me with that crazy look in his eyes.
• “Let me just wash my hands,” he said, and disappeared around the corner.
• Levi came back pulling a T-shirt over his head, and I looked at the stab and bullet wounds that marred his body. The scar across his throat was what made him look scarier, it made him seem untouchable. He had a dangerous aura that even humans picked up on.
