  • I switched the kettle on as Kari sat down at the kitchen table big enough for four. It wasn’t an overly large house. It had three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was a starter home, but it was big enough for us, and she hadn’t said anything about it, other than her dislike for the green kitchen.

The same thing happened when I came home. I found her in my bathroom, then last night, I saw her in the hallway, walking past our reception and I couldn’t believe it, because she was alive and okay,” I said.
