Chapter 99

• Lexi’s POV
• I wake up to my body being shaken around. I ply my eyelids open and take in my surroundings. My vision is a little blurry at first, so it takes me a second to focus on the people around and objects around me. Finally, I recognize Luca’s voice first before his face. He is carrying me inside somewhere. Confused as to why he is even around me, much less me in his arms. Then it all comes back to me. The car chase then the accident and lastly the shootout. I killed a man. I’m not sure how to feel about taking someone’s life. More memories pop into my mind from last night. Mine and Luca’s date, then the club and the reason why I left. Suddenly I don’t want to be carried by Luca any longer. I start to squirm in his embrace trying to get free. This only makes him hold me tighter.
• When I can’t wiggle away from him, I try the more vocal route. “Luca, put me down now. I am more then capable to walk on my own now. I’m sure you have more important matters to be dealing with then your wife.” Luca lets out a grunt in response to my demand. I just roll my eyes and begin to thrush around for my freedom. He lands two sharp smacks onto my backside while mummering, “stop moving. I will under no circumstance put you down.” I could tale by the tone he was being serious. So, I halted my attempts and just let him have his way.
