Chapter 71

• Lexi’s POV
• We finally stop in front of brick building that looks like it should be condemned. One thing for sure Luca doesn’t have to worry about me running away, because this neighbor scares the living shits out of me. Exiting out of the vehicle I take in my surroundings, there are cars lined all up and down the streets, most of them look abandoned. In the distance I can hear people yelling at each other even though I can’t see them. ‘How in the hell can Luca expect me to stay here?’ I think to myself. Marco, myself, and two other men I’ve never been introduced to all enter the ran down apartment complex. As we begin to ascend the stairs, I make it about 3 steps before I stop only for a second and grab the guard rail, then continue upper ward. As we’re nearing the top of the staircase, I bend over just a little bit breath deep breath and cross one of my legs over one the other. This time I take a little bit longer before I start moving again. Reaching the top Marco heads directly to his right and I’m lagging a little bit behind. I’ve got my hands wrapped around my stomach and taking small steps while my body is hunched over slightly. Marco has the door opened up by the time I get there and is already inside.
• I head directly in and say in a panic “where is the bathroom at.” Walking into the bathroom I let out a relived breath and think to myself, “thank goodness, at least this place is clean.’ Opening the door, I see that there is a cast iron tub against the wall to my left, right in front of me there is the toilet on the right-hand side of the wall closer to the bath tub and on the left, there is the single sink and cabinets. Shutting the door, I see there is a small linen closet. Placing the lid down on the toilet seat, so I can sit down to think.
