Chapter 77

• Lexi’s POV
• I dial Luca’s number, but he doesn’t answer. Mother, Luna, and I start looking at design ideas for the new nursey. We finally all decide to do this room in airplanes. I try to call Luca again, because I can’t call the painters until I ask him. This time he answers the phone. “Why the fuck do you keep bothering me today, Lexi. What the hell could be so damn important that it can’t wait until the next time I see you.” It sounds like Luca has been running the way he is panting so hard. I hear a woman’s voice in the background. I’m unable to stop the flood of tears that are pouring down my face. When I don’t respond he starts yelling “well, what the fuck do you want?”
• “I thought you might would want to know what the sex of the baby is. I’m sorry if I bothered you, I won’t call you again.” I tell him between sobs before I hang up the phone. Mother engulfs me into a big hug and lets me cry on her shoulder. We all decide to go out and take the kids swimming. LJ loves to be in the water. I send a message to Margaret telling her to bring a suit so they can swim with us. She texts back letting me know that was a great idea. It takes me about half an hour to get myself, LJ, and Mia all changed into our swim wear. I fix some bottles, grab towels, and we head out back. I let the housekeeper know that I was expecting company at 3:00 pm to show them to the pool when they arrive.
