Chapter 94

• Lexi’s POV
• Wanting to conserve all the energy possible just in case. I tell Luna “They are coming to get us. If you hear people walking getting close and don’t hear the code word blue then we need to run. He told me to stay put where we are, so how about we sit down and get some rest while we wait.” We take a seat and I put Matteo in between Luna and myself and she does the same with Alice both of their carriers are facing toward me. Mia starts to get fussy wanting me, so I hold out my arms and Luna passes her over to me. Now LJ and Mia are resting in my arms. It feels like hours have passed by, but I know it really hasn’t. The babies have all went to sleep thank goodness, and by the looks of it so has Luna. Not me though I’m on high alert. All of a sudden, I hear approaching footsteps and barely above a whisper someone saying “Blue, blue, blue.” A huge weight gets lifted off of my shoulders. I pick up my flash light and begin turning it on and off in the direction of his voice. The men’s footsteps get faster I can tell that they are now running to us.
• The first glimpse I get with my light I see Enzo. I smile big and so does he. Just when he is about to us foot steps in the opposite direction are echoing in the tunnel. I try to stand in a hurry, but can’t with both the kiddo’s in my arms. In no time a light is flashing on us and I hear an all to familiar voice. “Lexi,” It’s Luca he’s here with us. Struggling to raise up, I eventually give up. Luca drops to his knees when he finally reaches us. “You did such a good job. I’m so proud of you. You kept our babies safe.” Luca had more to say, but Matteo started crying again. Luca bends over me lifting up Luca’s carrier, and gently hands him to his father. By this time Luna has already stood up. Once she was to her feet, she asks me. “Would you like me to get Mia from you?” I shake my head not wanting to disturb the kids to much. Luca gently moves Mia off of my lap and hands her to Mia. He does the same with LJ, but he keeps him snuggled in his arms. I stand slowly, my butt has already gone numb from sitting so much.
