Chapter 38

• Lexi’s POV
• Luca was standing in front of the elevator when I caught up with him. He doesn’t even look at me, and I don’t say another word. I should’ve known not to open my mouth. If there is one thing that I’ve learned, since I’ve been with Luca and that is do as I’m told. When the elevator dings and the doors open, I let him step in first, then I hurry in after him. His SUV is already out-front waiting for us. The driver is standing beside the vehicle, upon seeing us he opens the doors. Luca grabs my arm and pushes me inside the car first then follows me in. On the ride to hell, I start thinking, ‘I’m not losing my so, whatever I’m going to endure I’ll just have to take it. Kat, is going to be pissed about her daddy and try to retaliate. I have to stay on Luca’s good side somehow, even if it means swallowing what little pride I have left.’ I let out a deep sigh. Luca’s house comes in to view, I thought the days of me living here were long over with.
• An older gray headed lady opens the front door for us. I don’t recognize her; Luca must be aware of this because he introduces us. “Lexi this is Betty she is the new head maid here. Betty this is Lexi, my wife.” Betty’s eyes got as big as saucers, “your wife, I’m sorry sir I didn’t know that you were married.” She informed him. “Don’t worry about it. Betty, most people don’t know or have already forgotten about me.” I pipped in. Luca shoots me a look. “Sir, which room would you like me to get ready for Mrs. Lexi?” Not wanting to be anywhere near Luca and Kat, I utter out “there’s no need to trouble yourself Betty. I can find myself a room in the west wing. That way I won’t be in no one’s way. If that is ok with you Luca?” I’m praying silently that he won’t make me get a room near his. It would break my heart to hear them having sex. He gives one subtle nod towards me, then turns and goes back to the car.
