Chapter 27
- Lexi’s POV
- I grab my bags and tell the store associate thank you, and saunter to the exit. Not expecting Luca to be following me out, but he does. He snatches the bags out of my hands. I still all my movement at that time. Knowing damn well how he gets; I don’t want to further anger him. His chest is up against my back, he bends down to my ear and says, “you’re in a fucking heap ton of trouble. What the hell are you doing shopping if you don’t have any money to buy what you get. You are an embarrassment to me and the family. The only reason why you’re still breathing right now is because my heir is inside your belly.” Tears are rolling down my face at this point. There is a huge lump in my throat that won’t let me say anything back to him. I can feel his body start shaking and now I’m scared. Thank God mother decides to walk up at that moment. She trudges right up to the two of us and asks, “what the hell is going on. Why are you crying sweetheart.” I don’t dare answer I just stare at the ground like the obedient toy I am. Luca is the one who speaks up, “why is she outside of the mansion? Why is she shopping when she doesn’t have any money and her card gets declined inside the store. You know how that makes the family look?” “I asked you yesterday Luca if I could take Lexi to go buy some new clothes. In case you can’t remember she is four months pregnant and none of her things fit her any longer. You said it would be ok, if you don’t believe me than ask your daddy. I had it on speaker phone. As far as money goes as long as she is with me, she’ll always have money. If you would give her a credit card nothing like that would ever happen again.” She spits right back out to him.
- I can tell when Luca remembers the conversation between him and his mother. His eyes goes wide and his breath hitches. Mother notices it to, but she also knows how to handle Luca. “I’m glad we ran into you, because I wanted to ask a favor. Would you mind if Lexi came and spent a couple of weeks with us? She is always by herself, since you’ve been distracted. It would do her some good to get out of the house for a bit. Our house is guarded so you know she won’t be able to run. Plus, you know where she’ll be if you get any free time to spend with her? Please son grant your old mother this one thing.” For the first time I glance up at him, then I see movement over his shoulder and Kat is standing there listening to everything going on. Tears well up in my troubled eyes, when he sees this, he looks over his shoulder to see what got me so upset and spots Kat. She’s standing there with her arms crossed huffing like she is mad. Not wanting to spend another minute in their presence I chime in and say “I’ll just go back home tonight. Maybe Luca can think it over and let you know some other time. I haven’t eaten anything since breakfast and starting to feel a little light headed. I need to eat. Can we please go now mother. Luca it was nice seeing you. Thank you for paying for my things, sorry I had to ask you.” I reach down take my bags from his hands and turn and walk away from both of them. I ride the escalator upstairs to the food court, and order me a pizza.
